Scenic Spot

The campground is good place to spend the night to visit the canyon (as of November 2020 there is a $15 entrance fee & they recommend making reservations prior to visiting). The campground is on a flat stretch of land next to base of canyons. During our stay it was extremely windy knocking over our tent (yup staked down & guy lined).

At drive up I was starting to feel a little disappointed on how close the neighboring city is, but once you’re at the campground & canyon you forget the city is a five minute drive away. (Reason why I reviewed it 4 vs 5- sorry!)

Overall great spot for a weekend family trip.

Desert Wonderland

Anza borrego state park has a lot of room to explore. The park has campgrounds near borrego springs that are easily accessible. Visiting the mud caves you’ll need 4x4 or an AWD car with high clearance. Anza borrego has been my wife & I go to camping area for over 5 years. Camping is allowed away from main trails and we typically sleep near the mud caves or within the slot canyons. Perfect place to star gave and wander around & explore. Bring plenty of water/ off road safety (enough fuel/ shovel/ traction boards) as towing out of this area is extremely expensive. (Pictures are from fonts point/ random hikes near camping spots).

BLM- Low Cost Campground

This campground was open when convict lake and local rv parks were at maximum capacity. It’s a short drive to near by attractions, and a good base camp to enjoy mammoth lake and near by trails.

ZION

This campground is a must stay at! I’ve come during different seasons of the year and each one brings different adventures. During the winter, while cold you’ll be treated with white capped mountains. Make sure to bring warm gear as night time gets extremely chilly! Campgrounds are walking distance to store for additional gear/goodies and a short walk to the tram for trails. Pictures are from angels landing during winter (bring crampons!)

Southern California- Quick Getaway

This park is great for all Southern California natives to get away for the weekend. Has clean facilities and the campgrounds have ample space between them. This area has a ton of beautiful landscape, during the fall/winter wonderful foliage appears. Leave no trace & enjoy our lands!

Hidden Gem/ Family Fun!

This campground was a pleasant surprise during our recent visit. Our campground space (#32) had an extremely private feel hidden away between some large boulders. There are easy hikes in the area, and easy access to the kern river. The portion of the river has slow moving water during our visit so safe for swimming. This is a hidden gen, feel remote and will be visiting again in the future.
