It was acceptable

We were in the Heart Stays loop. It was level and beautifully shaded. Thursday night we were the only ones in the loop, however it was near the boat ramps and there was a lot of vehicle traffic all the time. Friday night the campground filled up. There was even more traffic. One large group was very loud until 4:00 am. It is a primitive campground and, I imagine, one of the older ones in the park. The park brochure shows the campground as having a modern toilet, which was a pit toilet. I doubt we’ll go back because of all the noise.

Good for a quick weekend

Good shade. Well maintained and good sized spots. We’ve also rented cabins which are nice.

My favorite place in the world

I love the black hills and this is Our go-to campground. It is well shaded and quiet and is well located within the park.

Pretty view

This is not a campsite I will go back to. When we drove into the park and paid the entrance fee, we were told to find a place that wasn't occupied then go get a tag from the host. We found a site and started getting our stuff out of the car and pretty soon the campground host came by and told us we had to leave. She assigned campsites when people drove in, which is not what we were told. After telling her we wouldn't leave, she left, then came back and said we could stay.

The campground itself was pretty, but a lot of people in RV's (we tent camp) who were there to fish and party, so I thought it was noisy.

Beautiful and Serene

This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds I've been to. We got there later at night and had a little trouble finding it in the dark, and in a rainstorm. We were also having car trouble. The check in hosts were wonderful and helped me figure out getting my car serviced. Which, by the way, the service garage was in the park and had fantastic, helpful people. The sites were spacious and people around us were also great. I can't wait to go back!

Fun and Relaxing

Daughter and I camped here before visiting Mesa Verde. It was a great campsite. And, after a long day the swimming pool was very refreshing. Campground was clean and our campsite had a nice table. Shower house was nice. Views were beautiful and location was perfect for our destination. We packed up quick because of rain and went strait to Mesa Verde, where I couldn't find a cup of coffee until a ways into the park, so my advice is a quick trip to the closest town!

Clean and Well Maintained

My daughter and I stayed here. While it looks desolate in our pictures, it was clean, well set-up, and a very nice campground. There was a family home on the grounds and a camp host at the entrance. We felt very safe. Each campsite had a nice picnic table and fire ring. The shower house was fairly new and wonderful. Our destination was the Sand Dunes and the location of the campground was perfect. Plus, the views were beautiful!
