Plenty of trees for shade, modern and clean facilities, plenty of space
Everything about this campground is amazing!.. except the flies are everywhere and they bite. But if you don't mind bugs, then this is a must see camping spot.
The dirt road to this spot is very "washboardy", so make sure all lose items are secured. There are plenty of open spaces around the area. You can camp on the flat or up against the side of the hills.
The campground is essentially a resort for families: pool, activities, bikes, etc. We were the only people there without kids. All facilities are very clean and plentiful. The best part was all the trees that gave us much needed shade throughout the day.
Even if you have a reservation, it's first come first serve for which spot you will get. There are plenty of bathrooms and showers. Minimal shade. Seemed like a good percentage of the people staying there loved there full time. Lots of squirrels and rabbits, and we even found a rattle snake.
Easy check-in experience. You can walk off the property and directly into the sand dunes. Multiple bathroom and dumpster locations. Clean and warm showers available during the day.
Great campsite, plenty of room to throw the ball for our dog. The never ending sound of the nearby river was peaceful. Less than 50% capacity for Halloween weekend, but certainly a popular spot for hunters, bikers, and off roaders to spot by and use the bathrooms. If you walk across highway 49, you can explore the river; the water was cold, but there were lots of frogs and skipping rocks.
