Pulled up disappointed to see that they have fenced in the area so now there are only 8 spots instead of the dispersed camping that could have allowed for way more. This used to be our go to place, not anymore.
There are train horns since the tracks are close by but that’s everywhere in Lava
Very close to the camp entrance. Very convenient. Nice shade from trees. Lots of good spots. We had to camp closer to 1.5 miles from the start of the dirt road to be out of the restriction. Huge spots (five 5th wheels) and small (one car/ one tent).
Most of the pictures people have posted here are for the camp sites just about a mile up the road. This pin has all the garbage and is an awful place to camp. I highly suggest coming here but drive a little up the road and off to the right you’ll see the white camping post that says you can stay for 14 days. That area is nice with about 20 sites. Most have prebuilt fire pits. Large (5 cars big) and small (1 car and 2 tents) areas. Nice trees and good shade. Picture is of the garbage area.
We didn’t stay here because it was too hot. It’s very easy to find and there is a lot of spots. Plenty of flat ground for tents or space for Roof Top Tents. Just right off the road. The lower sites any 2wd could make the upper need higher clearance. NO SHADE so we left.
My family and I have been coming here for years. It has a lot of trailer spots that are almost all pull throughs and have hook ups. It’s fun to bring kayaks and float the river. The people who manage the camp ground have done a wonderful job.
