Friendly hosts and campers, well laid out pitches; Big Bend was a welcome break from the more primitive sites we sought out on our trip. Don't be fooled by the various trails leading to the river; it's worth walking left a bit, to find the beach, and don't miss the circular walk right around the river cliffs and back over the top - stunning!
Wolf Gap really came through for us, as a staging post for the start of our camping road trip. Being able to drop down into Woodstock (all the stores you could need, including Walmart etc) in around 20 mins was a bonus, as we got prepared to head to more remote spots, and we finished our time there with a stunning walk up Tibbet's Knob. There were only a couple of other units there, on a Thursday and Friday night in mid July.
