There are a variety of modern and primative campsites available. The camp hosts are very nice and greet new campers. The park ranger was very helpful after I fell into the fireplace and burnt my hand. I would HIGHLY recommend this park. They have a golf course, swimming pool and trails.
This county park has many amenities not to mention that it is close to a very popular bike trail (High Tressel Trail Bridge). There are a few miles of mowed trails along with a couple of trail through the woods up and down hills. Do you like volleyball? They have that and ahalf court basketball too. If your family or group likes games, the park maintains a flat well groomed area for play games. The bathroom/shower house has music 🎶. Wood is for sale. I plan to return. Plan to get here Wednesday or Thursday because this park is FIRST COME basis. NO RESERVATIONS! AndALL of the electrical sites were full Thursday evening. There were plenty on tent sites still available.
There was a beautiful lake by the campground. The sites were clean. You have to take your garbage to the dumpsters when leaving. The bathroom and shower was awesome. There was an amazing bike trail that went along the water.
While the park is set on a lake in a beautiful setting, the bathroom & shower facilities needed to be cleaned better or more often. The beach was nice. Very relaxing.
This is a must visit park. Plan to stay at least 3 days. The campground is very nice. The bathrooms and showers need some maintenance, but overall it's nice. There are many activities for everyone of all ages and abilities. They have a Gulf course, an interactive farm, wildlife area with animals, water activities with rentals, trails for bicycling and hiking and amazing sites to see.
I absolutely love the birds at the office area. It should be advertised better. It may entice more visitors. The drive through site are going the wrong way. The showers are small, but very clean.
The road back to the park was narrow. The campground was very well maintained.
First, I want to say that the employees in "Western Town" & tour guides were AMAZING! 👏
The campground was HORRIBLE! It was run down. The toilets at the pool house were backed up. The pool was well kept. They did close the pool for storms and did NOT reopen it until the next day. NOT good management of resources.
There are NO fire rings for safe fires. The tent sites have no picnic tables. It appeared that it is geared more towards the "EVENT" aspect of the campground. They also had people place their garbage by the road for pickup instead of dumpsters or garbage cans.
The speed limit is 10 mph. HOWEVER, kids were racing around the campground and going off road on quads. This was daily and continued until after 9pm. I would think for liability reasons the employees would monitor things better.
The tours of Loretta's homestead replica, her mansion and the museums was AMAZING! That would be the only reason I would ever return.
God bless Loretta Lynn and her family. A fan forever
First off, I want to warn everyone; DO NOT TAKE "PLEASANT VALLEY RD" into the campgrounds! That road takes you on a single lane road and if you meet another vehicle, someone will have to backup. The road is extremely washed out and huge chunks are gone. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! We took Louis Branch Rd, then turn right on 3425, after you go under the highway bridge take the next left on Kentucky River Bridge. After you cross the bridge turn right on 257/Drywall road. You will pass a walking bridge for U.S. ARMY CORP OF ENGINEERS. Take the next bridge across the river CR-1475, then turn right on Mosley Bend road. Then, you will come to Krypton-Toulouse-Yerkes Rd. Turn left (it's a very sharp left). Take the next left at the dumpsters and that will take you into the campground.
The employees are fantastic! The bathroom did run out of toilet paper so remember to always take your own!
I did not give this campground a 5 because it wasn't as clean as I would hope. The laundry room was filthy. It wasn't cleaned the entire week we stayed and it was dirty when we arrived. They may have cleaned the bathrooms daily, but they didn't do a thorough job. It was pricey for the cave tours and Mark Twain Cave was full of graffiti. Very sad. The camp site was perfect for us. The employees were nice and helpful.
