Nice little state park. The waterfront sites are great, but you can be very close to your neighbors. The last site 15 is also right next to a very busy boat launch. While the sites are nice, overall maintenance of the facilities was less than ideal. The beach has weeds, the bathrooms were not maintained at all. The lake and area are beautiful.
Overall I think this campground has a lot to offer if you have a family and are looking to provide them with activities. Fishing in the pond insite, swimming in the pool and lots of family weekends throughout the season.
However, for whatever reason the sites are all covered in stone, and I dont mean just the area where you park, I mean it was like camping on a stone driveway. Also, while the seasonal sites have lots of room the transient sites are much more on top of eachother.
The staff were pleasant and in general the place was very well maintained, the sites just weren't "comfortable"
Stayed here for a few nights. The sites vary widely in size and access so make sure you know where you are staying. We had great dune side site right next to a boardwalk to get out to the beach. Be careful of the tent sites, while many were under the cool and unique trees, others were partially flooded due to rain and time of year. The trail system across the road that is also part of the park is extensive and offers lots to do. Be mindful that if your site is not on the road that runs along the beach side you will likely have a good amount of road noise. You want to be picky about your site.
We found this campground by chance and we were so glad we did! Sites are level and spacious and grounds were clean. Rangers were very helpful as we went from a 1 night stay to a 3 night weekend, they were always available to help. Great trails, fishing, and disc golf at the park, and an arboretum around the corner. Great place for families.
Nice campground, family run, on the little Gold Brook. The sites along the brook are treated to the babbling brook sites and sounds. While most sites are relatively wide open, they are well spaced out with tons of room. They just upgraded their wifi throughout. The tent only section is really nice too. Facilities are well taken care of, small pool, playground for kids, and the owners are great.
I spend 10 days here every year for 4th of July, I love this campground. Small state park, not a lot of facilities, just the basics, but very well taken care of. You can hike from here over to the mountain or west along the river towards the toll road area. The sites are large and spaced out. Great walk in sites that are worth the short walk. Weekends and holidays book early for Peak summer months. Hopefully I'll see you there next year.
This was our second trip to King Philip's Campground. Big resort with tons of seasonal sites and residents. A small pool, and lots of activities for guests. Sites have full hookups including cable tv. Getting the right site here is key. Some have room, privacy, and trees. Others are close together, and out in the open. Great access to Lake George area, just outside of town, which can be nice given all the activities in town.
Amazing state park on the Waterbury Resevoir. Hiking trails all over the place, beach for campers, and a boat launch and dock. You can keep you power boat on the dock, or small paddle boat on the shore! Sites are large, facilities are clean. State park so no hook ups. When looking at the map it looks like the sites are waterfront, but in reality most are peekaboo views at best due to being far above the water and heavily treed sites. There are a few with great views, the lean-to's are great and have great views. Book early for weekends and holidays, they book up fast!
Wonderful state park, the waterfront sites are fantastic, they are wide so smaller units can be parked parallel to the lake. Bathrooms are clean, facilities are great. Easy access to the lake. Book early for the best sites.
Great campground. Staff is helpful, sites are clean. Definitely a tent friendly place. 90% of the sites are well shaded, and most have plenty of room. Do your research not all the sites here are created equal. Proximity to Acadia National Park, Southwest Harbor, and all the great things to do in the area is perfect. Great pool and other facilities. Found this place because the State Parks closed camping due to Covid, what a great find. We will definitely be back.
