Right next to the lake.

Great site next to the lake with trails down to and around the water all around. Not very secluded, but wasn’t crowded. We had site #32. There were more secluded sites down a short walk from where we were. One bathroom and water spout. There were A LOT of bees.

Beautiful views

First come, first serve. Got there around 6 and we found a great spot (site M74) that was not super close to anyone else and had beautiful views of the mountains. Very well maintained campground 7 minutes to the Rocky Mountains, but basically in the city.

Site #19 Loop B

Great campground. Fairly secluded, pretty quiet. Our spot had a short walk behind it to the bathroom. Heads up that the only bear box we saw was near the bathroom and it had a padlock on it, so it could not be used.

Beautiful

We were in Loop A. The campsites were nestled between two giant rock formations. Incredibly beautiful. Sites aren’t private, but the scenery is so beautiful it is worth it. The bathrooms also have a dish washing sink behind it which I loved and had never seen before.

In Big Bear

This campsite is literally in Big Bear, so if you want to be close to the city this is a great spot for you. Very crowded and little privacy, but very pretty.

Incredibly Beautiful

Seriously beautiful campsite. Was not crowded at all due to the heat, but we were never super hot. Plenty of shade at our site.

Right next to the lake

Had a smaller campsite (site 15) that butted right up against another campsite, but most other sites seemed more private. Plenty of shade and trees. Saw a doe and two babies run through the site every morning.

Gorgeous, but crowded

The lake was gorgeous! I wish we had more time to walk trails, but we were just stopping for the night. My only complaint is that the campground was crowded and the spots were all very close together.

Unclear Directions

The directions given on the site for how to find this campground were not very clear. We spent a lot of time double and triple checking where we were to make sure we were going the right way. We ended up giving up because it was getting dark only to find out later that we were very close to it. The drive to the campsite is incredibly beautiful, though. It is about 2 hours east of Show Low. I’m sure it would have been beautiful if it weren’t so hard to find and we had better directions.

Red River Gorge

I thought it was a little too crowded for my liking. I prefer sites a little more secluded though. Still enjoyed my stay.

Thumbs up.

I loved site 48 at Cliffy Campground. It was the most secluded spot we could find. Definitely book ahead of time if you can.

Good for a quick trip

Good for a quick trip out of the city.
