Stayed here as our last stop of the season to go see the Christmas lights at SDC. Have small kids so drove to SDC even tho they had shuttle because we didn’t want to have to wait if we were ready to leave as it only runs every several hours. The campgrounds proximity to the road was a big concern, for the kids and the traffic noise; and one of the grounds crew was very rude (must’ve been having a bad day). The number of trees was beautiful but made for a tight squeeze getting our rig (39’) in and out of the our spot. If the one across from us had been occupied I wouldn’t have been able to get in. The campground itself was nice tho and so was being close to SDC. Not sure if we’ll go back but enjoyed our time while there.
I give 5 stars because of purpose. I rate based off of what I’m looking for and if it fits my needs. I try not to compare the likes of city campgrounds to those in the mountains (apples and oranges) I also wasn’t sure what to expect but was very happy with this campground. Had originally planned on tripping to Omaha more than one day but only ended up only going once to hit the Henry Doorley Zoo because we had enough to occupy us at the campground. Very kid friendly with great staff. sites were fairly close together but have been at worse. Pro & Con - right next to the interstate. Since we were site seeing around the area it was convenient instead the more nature excursion camping trip. But the traffic noise is not the most desirable. Would be a great place to stay if you’re going to go to a corn huskers game-short drive to the stadium. We actually went to a minor league ball game; Lincoln Salt Dogs, was a good time and also great time for the kids! If we ever venture that direction again I will gladly stay here again.
Awesome staff! Great place to go if you want to be close to Branson but not spend all day every day there and still have activities for the kids to do. Sites are closer together but found that to be fairly typical with yogi campgrounds. This one has beautiful mature trees all over and the staff are continuing to make improvements/upgrades.
We’ll be back
Hope you like airplanes!!! Not too far from KCI and planes making their final decent fly right over top. Campground itself was clean with very friendly staff. RV lots were cramped however. It seems as if in its prime this place was the place to be but has since kind of run down a bit. Need to start investing in it before it’s too far gone. Ordered pizza from the shack for lunch one day…it was meh. Had great camping neighbors tho and with it being the weekend before Halloween several folks brought candy to hand out to kids. Won’t return.
Hard to give an accurate account for our stay due to it raining basically the entire time. When it wasn’t raining the sites were nice and spacious and relatively level. Made for easy set up and break down. Like the other Jackson county campgrounds the convenience of being close to home was nice and because of the rain made it easy to run and grab a pizza. Will go back!
We camped on the bluff loop and had amazing veiws of the lake! Large sites too. There is also a loop called the point which looked like it also had great views but campsites were closer together. Not terrible, but less seclusion. Water & Electric only but dump station on site. Was just over a 2 hour drive for us from the eastern Jaco/KC metro area. Cant wait to come back!
I gave this campground a 4 star instead of 3 because I feel like if you’re camping here you should know not to expect “isolated camping” with sounds of running rivers and wildlife. This campground is geared for kids and family activities and accomplished same. It is pretty commercialized but did have a lot of trees. pros- activities for kids/fam nice pool tons of trees easy access from highway close amenities (Walmart, six flags, etc) close to StL (tons to do) we did grants farm and city museum one day.
Cons- can hear highway traffic….a lot small campsites, very close to neighbors fairly steep grade, especially right out our camper door was a big drop off our water hook up and electric hookup was significantly far apart. (1st world problems I know but handy info for those with campers) may be site specific.
if you camp here the golf cart rental is a must if you’re camping in the lower section. While we camped here some friends of ours camped at yogi outside Branson. After comparing experiences, although we had a good time, we would not return here. They did not say the same.
very beautiful campground with views of the lake. nice beach just a short 5 min drive away. also horse trails and facilities to accommodate if you’re into that. $5 bundle of firewood was weak at best but got the job done. will be back!!
I try to review campgrounds based off of my expectations. I did not expect this to be the equivalent of camping in the mountains. So, for what I was looking for I gave it a 4 star review. *a nice close to home campsite for a quick get away. between Jackson county parks (Longview, jacomo, and this one) this has the least amount of shade trees, the campsites are closer together, and is stIll close enough to the highway to hear some traffic; thus the 4 star review. however, you get more fire wood with your purchase here than at Longview (credit to the attendant) & you are close to Blue Springs Lake Marina, beach, and trails to walk/bike. Of the 3 aforementioned campgrounds, this one is the closest to home for us. we had a great time and will be back!
was able to get in to full hook up sight with less than 24 hr notice. (rarity) weather was perfect and campground nice! wouldn’t know you were just minutes away from the “big city”. *will be back!
