Close to Julian, CA about 10-15 minutes. We camped during Veteran’s day weekend. The terrain of the campground is ideal for kids. Trees, hills, and large rocks for the kids to climb on. The sites we had #59 and #61 were located on a slight hill. The tent pad sites were slightly slanted. The bathrooms were super clean especially during a holiday weekend. The Green Valley falls trail is located in the campground and it’s super kid friendly.
Proximity to the lake was great for the kids. The view was also amazing. Bathrooms were clean but lots of bugs (but expected). No showers on this West Shore section of the campground. West shore sites are also a hike in type site where you have to park your car in the parking lot and carry on all your gear to the site. The sites are pretty small too. We had a 9 person and a 6 person tent on the site and it was pretty cramped. The campground restaurant and tackle shop is very close by and convenient. After our trip we ventured into the town of Julian and grabbed some pie from Mom’s Pie Shop and amazing pie!!
Great campground close to trails and Curry Village. A creek and forest run behind our sites; and a couple hundred feet was the river. The kids had a great time exploring. Close by is a restroom (no showers). The restrooms were cleaned everyday!
The only reason I’m giving a 1-star is due to our tent site next to the river—which was fun and refreshing especially for the kids. Also the proximity to the national park was very convenient. First of all there are signs at the riverfront campsites for other campers to NOT walk through people campsites to access the river but people were doing it all the time. The bathrooms were disgusting, atrocious! The campground didn’t adhere to the maximum visitors per site so there were so many people packed into one site. The worst, worst part of this campground people did not adhere to the 10pm quiet at night. Literally music, screaming, and yelling up until midnight and 1am. There was no security or anybody enforcing these rules. I would never stay at this campground again even if you paid me!
Beautiful! Peaceful! Clean! Campground is surrounded by lush trees and vegetation. Our campsite was right next to a small stream and the kids had so much fun exploring everyday. The bathrooms/showers were cleaned everyday. We went during spring break so there were plenty of families and some college kids but everyone was so respectful of the noise level especially at night! I would definitely stay at this campground again if I’m in the area!
