Not my favorite State Park but it has lots of memories. We camp here every year with my wife’s extended family and it works well because we get about 10 sites and they are all open to each other (lots of sites crammed into a small space as is typical of Michigan State Parks). The beach for the camp ground is nice but often time boaters (who are not staying at the State Park) will park their boats off shore and add to the crowded beach. Also there is no dog beach for people with dogs.
Every we come up to Ludington State Park for our annual camping trip with my parents and Sister. It is a great place to be as a family. The sights are right on top of one another as is typical in Michigan State Parks but when you get a few sites it works out really well(it is my reasoning of 4 stars). Nice camp store, lots of hiking and swimming!
We hit this campground at the end of our trip and we found it to be very relaxing. One bonus for us was that my wife had camped here as a child and had wonderful memories.
This is a nice little campground but they had to cut down most of the trees due to the emerald ash borrer. when the sun is out it gets HOT.
