We found out that the back loop was not available due to downed trees, but that didn't diminish the stay for us. (Back loop was no electric and normally first come, first serve.)
We couldn't reserve a site because it was March and because of the time of year, and Covid I suppose, so it was first come, first served. You have to put your fee in the envelope provided when you enter the front loop. Reserved campsites were supposed to be posted on the board, but I didn't see a list.
$18 for electric was very reasonable. The restroom near our site, #13, was open, but no lights and no shower. We almost needed it as a tornado shelter the evening we stayed, but the thunderstorms were all we had to deal with.
There is a dump station. We didn't need it.
This was a favorite of ours on the Arizona campgrounds we visited this winter. With Covid restrictions in place, the town was pretty empty when we visited in January, 2021.
Even so, the gunfight show went on every hour (last one at 3 pm), and we were able to do the money tour (highly recommend). We visited the Tombstone Brewery, and Oriental Saloon. All of this from the convenience of this parking lot.
It is located at the end of the street beside Tombstone City Hall. (Which is at 306 E. Fremont St.)
We saw roadrunners back here, and found a small caves, too. Stayed 2 nights and checked out the copper mine in Bisbee, about 40 minutes away. Food shopping in Sierra Vista.
Great location in Kansas, 9 miles off I70, at exit 206. US Army Corps of Engineers campground, with water, electric and a dump station available.
Restrooms are heated and showers are available as well.
Senior Passes are accepted. If you choose not to use the electric sites, there are primitive sites, which are free. Nice clean place to find an oasis (Wilson Lake) on a highway desert!
This evening, my husband and I are camped out on the beach at Champion Lake in Enders State Recreation Area, Nebraska.
We chose the campground at the left of the major Reservoir campground, which is the Dam Campground. It has 2 sections to it. You can actually camp on the beach at this one, but it is primitive camping. $10 a night. There is a dump station, and a potable water pump.
Permits are required, but your money envelope (deposit receipt) is your permit, if you are not local. We are staying 2 nights.
Oh yes . The golfing. Well, there is a golf course across the road from the campground. I didn't get to check it out, but you can, if you are interested. I'll update if I can. Internet isn't that great on Verizon here.
Disappointed that camping isn't being allowed. It's a beautiful lake. There is electric and water available if they open it up again. Day use makes it worth checking out if you are on routes 84/80 near Echo.
Just a correction, before the rest of the review. There are no sewer hookups for RVs. Only a dump station.
I loved this campground for many things, but the 10-15 minute walk to the beach was my favorite part. We stayed a week.
A couple things of note: Playground for kids in loop C; showers are now open; Yurts are available for $60 a night, and you can park a camper at each yurt, too (just pay extra vehicle charge), and last, Newport is home to Rogue Brewery and within an hour from Monmouth and Salem wineries. Check Groupon for some great specials on these.
