Awesome forest hideout

Follow sunspot highway to mile marker numbe 5, the forest road is right there. Once you enter take a left down the slope. Choose amoung many sites, we picked the first one on our right which is a slight drive up to a clearing under some trees. Loads of fire rings.

Geared towards rv camping

We arrived late at night to a site full of off roading vehicles and other ATVs. Obviously a meet.

The ground is very compact and straight dirt, multiple rvs had generators running so the night was loud. We ended up leaving.

I'm sure its a sweet spot for off roading and to rv camp but not so much for tents.

Great spot, very cold

Beautiful and tranquil, lots of wood with a fire pit in each spot. Easy access and close to the grand canyon.

We drove in for a while till we found a secluded spot.

It got to 4 degrees fahrenheit so all our water and food froze. Lovely Mexican restaurant nearby to escape to.

The best location you could ask for.

We arrived at night in a nissan rogue, a 2wd with some clearance. We made it through but day time makes it easier.

Once through the gate, keep a left and follow the road to the cliff edge. A previous review posted the perfect pictures and directions. I reccomend downloading the aerial view and info before you arrive as reception is spotty.

We had great weather so no wind and rain, blue skies and a very incredible experience.

Highly recommend it.

One of our best sites yet.

camping in a 2 man tent, traveling in a raised 2WD. We took the dirt road to the end looking for a nice secluded spot, we passed a handful of sites for both rvs and tent. We found a small site in a dried out run off area past the second cattle guard.

We ventured down as far as we could go and carried our tent the remaining 20 or so meters.

Lots of dried wood around for kindling, enough stones to make a fire ring.

The sunrise and sunset here were spectacular, the lake provides an awesome blue.

Would go again if I could.

Amazing spot, we were working our way out of the state through Gila and stopped here for a night. We took a small dirt road off the main gravel entrance and found a superb spot at the end. Drive was tight so a small vehicle is recommended, 2wd was fine. Stars were as stated, luminous.
