We love this campground. It’s local to us but a great place to getaway with family. It’s family friendly, great flat biking for kids, large dirt area used for parking during the Balloon and Wine festival that kids can play on and ride bikes in. Splash pad open during the summer which is great for kids and adults alike. Fishing and boat rentals. Far enough to feel like your away but close enough to grocery stores and towns. Right outside the Temecula Wine Country and Old Town Temecula.
We love Ventura. Getting to camp here was even better. We didn't stay long, as it is pricy, but you get what you pay for. An amazing view on the shore with waves crashing all night. If you snag a spot closer to the entrance, you're lucky to have sandy beaches and water to play in. We were further down and from the trailer to the water were huge boulders. Our kids didn't mind, as they enjoyed climbing and playing on the rocks. We played on the beach during the day and enjoyed watching the pro surfers we admire catch waves. Downtown Venture is fun and enjoyable to grab lunch and walk the farmers market. We did have loud neighbors, as you are in close quarters along the shore, but everyone is friendly. They also say to make sure to lock up your belongings at night. Apparently people stop along the highway, climb down take items, but we didn't have any problems.
We’ve camped here many times on our drive up to Northern California. It’s other worldly and our kids love exploring this space. Each time we pull off into a new spot and stay a few nights. It’s boondocking, so it’s free to stay. You can take a quick drive up to Mt Whitney for the worlds biggest pancakes and a few waterfalls. There are great hikes in the area and even hidden swimming spots. Movies have been filmed here and it’s easy to see why.
