Quiet; lots of trees

We love Lake Murray but had never stayed at Rock Tower. It was surprisingly quiet and heavily wooded; a nice refuse from the sun. The camp host knew our names, our friends names and which spot we were going to be in. They were so welcoming! The kids found plenty to do exploring near the camp site and chasing the feral pig (yes, that’s right) that came walking through a few times. There’s a beach near by with picnic tables that is still well shaded and kept beautifully. It’s not too crowded unless it’s a holiday. The clear water lake is GORGEOUS and makes swimming more fun for any kids afraid of water critters, since you can see at least 10 feet down!

Large campsites and open spaces. Clean bathrooms.

Lewisville Lake has some of the best restroom and shower facilities we’ve seen. Always clean, accessible (not cramped) and the showers have a large dressing area.

We like the deer that regularly come through, easy lake access and walking trails.

If you’re looking for something more remote, this is NOT for you, but if you’re camping with little kids, Walmart is right down the road which may be convenient.
