We stayed here in the early spring of 2016. There was significant damage caused by the New Years floods and a whole loop was still shut down, but we were able to get a cozy river front spot that was secluded enough that we wouldn't have felt crowded even if the park had been full.
The Camp host was very friendly and more than happy to help with any of our needs. Definitely on the list of favorite spots in Missouri
We found this campground almost by accident late at night. The site are well spread out for the most part, the view is very nice if you get to camp on the water, and we were able to find space on a major holiday which was very welcome. There was some trash scattered around due to inconsiderate campers and the vault bathrooms were pretty rough. But besides that it will be on our "no-fail" list next time we're in the area.
For a campground with a couple hundred sites, the sites were fairly well secluded. The bathrooms were clean and the camp host was very friendly and we were able to get a walk-in spot on labor day weekend which surprised us. Our biggest complaint was the amount of poison ivy in the campsites. We would definitely go back.
It's not a bad little spot for a weekend escape. There will be a train that comes through in the middle of the night, but other people have never been an issue for us
