It was pretty empty the day we stayed. We think this campground will be great for groups that are looking to stay in their own sites but easily hangout together because there are multiple sites close to each other without too many trees/plants between them (in the tents campsite). The restroom was well kept. There are many trails, some by the river, to hike or bike. We went during a tick-heavy season so we had to get out the protection and removal tool.
This is one of my favorites not only from growing up but also nowadays, and we will enjoy it each year to come! We stayed in a cart-in site and the cart worked well, the trail was in good shape, the restrooms were well kept, and the site was beautiful. The sites have plenty of trees/plants between them so it feels private. There is plenty to do because of the lighthouse tour, visitor center, trails, and water.
This site is great for solo or family trips because there is a lot to do: swim, playground, boating, fishing, walking. The site and restroom/shower were well kept. During the night there were some raccoons rustling around and this caused multiple campers to come over, but nobody was concerned for safety, more curious about what they were doing.
This was a very fun trip for us because there was almost nobody else at the campsite that day, there are lots of trails to explore (some down by the river), and the fire watch tower added a little something special to check out. This would be a great campsite for groups that want to get sites next to each other and hangout because of proximity and openness of many sites at the Paint Rock Springs part of the park. We did visit during a tick-heavy time of year, so we had to have protection and removal tool ready, especially after hiking all day.
What a wonderful park for being surrounded by the cities! We had previously come for walking and kayaking, but this was our first overnight here. The site and restroom/shower are well kept and there are enough trees/plants between the (tent) sites to make it feel private. It's always fun seeing deer, turtles, fish, gardner snakes here.
This is one of my favorite MN campsites. We stayed in a cart-in site: the cart worked well, the restroom/shower was clean, the site was beautiful and we were able to get down to a little rock beach by the water, it was also easy to book online. There is plenty to do at this park between hiking and spending time by the water. Again, it is beautiful throughout and I loved being immersed in the environment.
