Very quiet and beautiful

I absolutely love this campground. You have to walk upstairs to get to it, but there were quite a few campsites as you walk along the hiking trail. Each one has a fire pit and a picnic table, and you could probably fit three or more tense at each site. We were there in June and there was only one other group there. The hiking trail was awesome also, you hike along the Saint Croix river. We had some cell service. There is a pit toilet by the parking lot. No trash, showers or water that we saw.

Great stop for one night!

We camped here the end of July on a Tuesday on our way to Yellowstone. It was the perfect site and loved that it’s free. We set up our tent well after dark about a half mile before the coordinates listed on the left hand side of the road. It had a big pull through spot and a campfire. There was another tent across the road and their spot had more privacy than ours. I would definitely stay here again. It was quiet and we had no issues with animals. Only a few cars were heard at night. No cell service at all until I was near Jackson (Cricket Wireless).

Beautiful and well kept!

We were kind of skeptical of this campground at first since the dirt road to it was very rough-especially coming in in the dark. Make sure you copy the coordinates in your notes or make note of the directions because we had absolutely no service coming from Yellowstone. There were plenty of campsites open on a Wednesday night in the end of July. In the morning we were able to check out the lake and saw the food storage bins located throughout the campground. There is also a pit toilet near the boat launch. The sites are very clean and well kept. Very quiet campground, I would definitely stay here again. I would have never guessed it would be free, it’s so nice! Lots of mosquitoes though—more than northern MN ;) I had a few bars of Cricket cell service right before entering the campground at the top of the road, but no service at our site.
