Great Camping & Hiking

Grew up near Kohler-Andrae state park, and it was always a fun place to go. Right on Lake Michigan, had nice and clean beaches. Campsites are a nice-not the most private but its a big park, and the facilities are stocked and clean. Hiking trails are great, especially the ones through the dunes. Definitely worth the stay! Happy Trails!

Elkhorn: right in the heart of it all

Great park right smack in the middle of it all. Sites are good sized and had nice tent pads, 2 rivers running though it. A large one and a nice little creek that runs through. The best sites are off the river and some of the ones right next to the creek. Close to some great trails and not too far from Gatlinburg if you're looking for some tourist action. Loved this campground and would definitely return. Perfect base camp for all the smokies have to offer! Happy Trails!

Trails! Trails! Trails!

We stumbled on Gov. Dodge a few years ago on a impromptu camp weekend. Needless to say we loved it! So many great hiking trails with cliffs, bluffs, caves, waterfalls, old architecture that displays the great history of the area. There are 2 camp grounds, Cox Hollow and Twin Valley, named for the lakes they are by. Camp grounds are both great, but we tend to stay in Twin Valley more for some reason. Facilities are great, however the wood they sell for fires is not very good. We recommend a little shop right down the road that will have a giant pile sitting out front and the owner plucking away at his guitar on the front porch. Rentals are available for both lakes, which are beautiful but small since they are man made. There is decent fishing and swim areas aren't bad. One of our goto nature escapes! Happy Trails!

Basically a second home

Have been visiting Clear Lake for as long as I can remember. Lake is big, clear and beautiful. Very peaceful, lots of wildlife and fishing is great too! Facilities are nice and clean. Sites are great, and many of them are pretty private. Only a few sites on the lake however, but if you have a boat and are feeling adventurous, there are primitive sites across the lake! There aren't too many hiking trails, but there is a great one that wraps part of the lake, which will take you to 2 hidden lakes as well. Truly one of my favorite places, I even proposed to my wife here! And if you're lucky, you'll catch the Northern Lights too! Happy Trails!
