Spacious and clean, a lot of recreational options for youth and the staff were nice and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay but wished the cellular coverage was better in case of emergency.
We’ve camped here a few times and each time was very enjoyable. The actual camp sites are quant and quiet with clean and easily accessible facilities. The park really shines with all of the available options for recreation from hiking, to biking, or even playing 18 holes of disc golf on a world renowned course. Bottom line is that there’s plenty to do here and it’s safe and clean.
The tent sites are nicely tucked inside of wooded areas, the RV sites are tightly packed together with little shade. We stayed on site #51 & 52, sites weren’t horrible but there was a lot of trash including random articles of clothing. The bathrooms were not the cleanest but also not the dirtiest. There’s general supplies provided. The park has a lot to offer if you’re looking for more than just a night outdoors. Probably come back in the off season.
We’ve been camping here for over a decade and have always enjoyed our stays, the staff are helpful and friendly and the facilities are all clean. The lake access is amazing as well.
We stayed only one night, there was one available bathroom for primitive/tent campers only at the time due to COVID, great view of the lake and quite despite a full camp. We’ll definitely be returning again.
Great spot, close to stores and a lot of trails and such. Nice level clear spot, able to accommodate an overland or few tents setup. Close to the main road. There’s 3 individual sites along this roadway. The first site is located approximately 1/10 mile down on the right and the second site is further at approximately 3/10 miles. The road follows a slow gradual decline leading another 2-300 yards where the graveling leads to the 3rd and final site which is nestled in a nice culdesac area.
The staff are super friendly and helpful. The private beach area is nice. It is on the sound so the sand is not white like on the gulf and the water is more shallow and calm. It is a great family place, lots of kids around. Cell coverage was excellent on T-Mobile. There’s a convenient store located directly across the highway if any last minute items are needed and there’s also all major grocery and department stores nearby. The sites have a lot of magnolia and oak trees and there’s gravel throughout. They also offer kayaks and paddle boards for use as well as WiFi and a few classic games like cornhole and volleyball. There’s a lot of trees, make sure you’re an expert if hauling a trailer or driving a large RV because space is tight and the tree canopies are low. Also make sure you explain exactly the dimensions as so they may place you best based on size. The road noise from Hwy 98 can be bothersome at times, not too quite there.
