This is a great little stop over campground for anyone making a trip across the state. We had planned to stop in Mitchell and stay at the Walmart on our way to Badlands, but saw Dakota and decided to give it a try. Full hookup sites, swimming pool and a small arcade for the kids. Definitely recommend this campground if you’re looking for a quick overnighter.
This is a pretty decent campground. It met our needs for a day trip to Mackinac Island. It’s within biking distance to the Shepler’s Ferry dock which is super nice of you’re planning to take bikes along. Most of the sites are partially shaded and fairly spacious. We stayed in site 32 which worked out perfectly for our 36’ trailer. We definitely enjoyed our stay here.
We’ve been to many KOA campgrounds over the years. Some great, some I’ll never go back to. Hogback Lake definitely ranks at the top of the list. The owners take excellent care of the property and you can tell they’re continually reinvesting in maintenance and upgrades. They have a new pool and lazy river which is fantastic. There’s an inflatable obstacle course on the lake. They have docks, pontoon rentals and a launch if you wish to bring your own boat. The only drawback is the traffic noise if you’re staying in any of the sites near the front of the park. I definitely recommend this campground if you’re looking for a place to stay in the Angola area.
We love this campground. Our site backs up to a creek which provides amazing ambiance. Had a great stay. Will definitely return in the future.
Overall this is a pretty nice campground. There are a small handful of electric only sites(30a), but the bulk of them are dry. The campground is located on a peninsula on Shenango River Lake. A large number of them are on the lake providing a nice area to beach your boat or kayaks. There are several playgrounds for the kiddos. There is also a boat launch on site. The lake is not horsepower limited either. Nice paved roads throughout. Most sites are level gravel.
