Stayed here one night in loop 1 (33). Camp sites are spread out. Facilities were in good condition for a state park in July. Showers were all working and had hot water. There's a playground for the kiddos. Trails to showers so you don't have to walk the long way on the roads. Every site was nice. Water in each loop available. Toilets in each loop. Trails connected to park.
I stayed on the island where the tent campers are. The island was nice, we were the only tent. We ended up calling it mosquito island as a joke. Bugs are bad, but it is July in the Midwest. We were site 719. No fire ring, there is a picnic table. Average size site. The river that site is on is beautiful. Natural setting is nice. No amenities were up and running. No mini golf, no pool, no game room, nothing. The playground was ok. The kids liked it but it's dated. The restaurant on site was good and friendly. Staff has been friendly. Probably won't be back. Paid about $70 for a tent site. That number makes sense if all the amenities are up and running and are nice.
I've stayed in a tent and a trailer here. Love this place. Super clean, everyone is pleasant. The tent sites are kind of away from the RVs. There's only 10 tent sites, but you could land your tent at an RV site if you wanted water or electric. Love coming here.
Great camping here. Water readily available. Clean bathrooms. Welcome center when you arrive. People friendly. Lot of different types of sites. Lot of sites. Did about 10mi of hiking. Buggy, but it's June in WI.
Big state park up in the north end of the state. Campground is fun but if you're looking for privacy you won't find it here. This place is packed with campsites on top of each other. It's like a mini city of tent camping. The RV sites were on top of each other too. Facilities were gross. Lot of litter. The hiking trails were nice. Not labeled too well but they were decent. Has a camp store.
Have stayed here a few times tent camping. Smaller campground in McHenry county. Good staff. Other campers relatively friendly and quiet. County police make a presence in the camp ground. Clean. Decent sites, some have hike in (kind of). Decent toilets.
