Very nice manager but.....

Lufkin, Texas, Take a look at the photos on Google maps. The worst part is the lack of road and site grading and drainage. Utilities are fine. Full hookups, laundry room, 1 shower, good wifi. Roads are mostly dirt. Pads are mostly dirt and ungraded some have gravel. Manager is trying to upgrade but it has a long way to go.Lots of potential here.

New and clean

Kind of an odd location— behind an auction yard. Nice concrete slabs for RVs. Fair gravel roads, 3 very nice log cabins, at least 2 covered RV spaces. BBQ grills and fire pits are brand new. Private pond on site. Because it is relatively new they have a few bugs to work out but I would stay there again.

New facilities

On the shores of Ross Barnett Reservoir where Highway 43 crosses the lake. RV park is tucked behind the marina and boat store and not obvious. Paved roads and concrete slabs. This site is geared towards water sports, boating, fishing and duck hunting. Natchez Trace Parkway is nearby as is Brown’s Landing Park and Trail. Also Pearl River Wildlife Management Area is nearby. New sites are under construction. We were there during rains in January and having the RV on a concrete slab was a plus— the ground was quite soggy. Only problem is that some sewer hook-ups are 12” above ground creating a problem for dumping and drainage.

Does not sho well in the winter

Kinda dumpy, really. Nice people, though.

Pretty Nice

We travel full time so we see a lot of parks. This one is small but clean and modern. There seems to be few long term campers which helps to keep the park looking clean. There is a small pool which I didn’t try because it was November. During our stay it was quiet and everyone respected the space of others. It is convenient to I-40 and Hwy 93 being at the intersection of both with several truck stops just across the freeway. The park has a few small trees which appear to be well cared for. All in all, a pretty nice place.

Just my experience

I spent one night in Sept. 2019 after a rainy day. We stayed up front near the office and street in a 38 foot motorhome. Full hookups, gravel sites and paved roads. It was quiet though not far off the freeway in a commercial neighborhood. I saw nothing wrong and have no complaints; there was grass and worn picnic tables. Overall, it was certainly adequate and humble. I would stay again without hesitation. I cannot rate it higher because it is humble— it is not as glitzy as the highly rated parks.
