It's a long day hike to get to Garnet Lake from Agnew meadows but it's worth it for the incredible views in the Ansel Adams wilderness. Quiet and safe. I would definitely camp here agin.
Camping here is a little rough… no bathrooms or running water but the slot canyons are awesome!
This is a great spot to camp but you will need a 4-wheel drive to get there. The road is very sketch for the last mile to get to the lookout. There is an outhouse but no water. Not a lot of great hiking but the view of the lookout is pretty amazing.
The location is perfect for all the Valley trails. There is a shuttle right outside. There are several campgrounds here. There is a space for tents and also a village of canvas tents for those who prefer glamping. For food there is a convenience store nearby, a restaurant and a pizza place.
TIPS:
Tent cabins are close together, you will hear your neighbors, bring ear plugs
Leave early, the trails get crowded very quickly
Lots of tourists so parking will be tight
Driving into Yosemite is horrible lately, especially into the Valley, CARPOOL!
I've stayed at this campground a few times and love it. There are bathrooms close by and pay showers at the hotel within walking distance. Some of there spaces even have good tree cover. It's a great place to stay if you are planning to explore Death Valley. I would definitely stay here again.
TIPS:
You will do lots of driving getting from one trail to the other in Death Valley so get started early
Make sure take lots if water EVERYWHERE
Take advantage of the showers, they cost around $7, bring cash!
Everyone is very friendly here!
