Racoons will eat your food!!!

The campground is nice and large. It's is close to town so if you are looking for a nature experience away from people this is not the place. The racoons here are very bold and will come up to your table the minute you turn your back. I e night we had to keep chasing one away. The squirrels are bold too.

Bathrooms were nice and clean. Plenty of hot water and they are continuous. The beach was beautiful but the waters seemed very rough. Make sure you take bug spray, the mosquitoes will get you and we were there in early October.

Amazing canyon

On this trip (May 2020) we stayed in one of the cabins on the east rim. It was right in the loop for camping.

It's an amazing campground with sites in the east and west rims of the canyon. The views were amazing and there are a ton of hiking trails. My kids keep asking to go back.

My favorite go-to campground

I love the mountains and the Brevard/Asheville area is where I normally go during the summer. This is a wonderful campground at the entrance to the Pisgah National Forest. The campground is big and offers sites in the woods and by the Davidson river.

Only a few sites have electric hook-up, but most have no electricity. The surrounding forest offers great hiking trails. There is a swimming hole and lots of people fly fish in the river. This trip we took in early June 2020 and a cold front had just gone through so it was very chilly at night.

My favorite campground

Kissimmee prairie preserve is my favorite campground. It is a dark sky area, so the night sky is beautiful. Upon getting into the park, there was wildlife everywhere (turkey, deer, alligator, birds). The prairie is so open that you can see forever.

We had campsite 15 which had a great view of the prairie and backed up to the woods. The bathrooms were very clean with large shower areas and continuous hot water. Definitely go when there's no moon, as this is a dark sky area so you can see the milky way during the right time of year. We were there in mid October, so just right at the end of the milky way season.

I've already booked a return trip.

Beautiful and peaceful campground

I loved my site near the end of the second loop. The bathrooms where very clean with plenty of hot water. The showers were individual rooms so you don't have to worry about anyone coming in while you are in there.

Plenty of wildlife in the area. I had 5 deer around my site while I was setting up my camper. They did not seem scared by me at all, in fact one came within 10 feet of me. The doe startled me a bit but she just wanted to eat. There is plenty of space and vegetation between sites, so it very private. This is another dark sky area so the stars were amazing. I went in early December so unfortunately I wasn't able to see the milky way.

I will definitely be back to this campground.

Big Campground, Beautiful Springs

The campground is large and the sites are spaced decently. There is no barriers between the sites, so no privacy. It is close to the road so you do hear road noise. The bathrooms weren't the best but not that bad. The bath house I used had one shower broken that ran the entire time I was there (2 nights). Also, large industrial fans click on when you walk in, so it was very cold.

The springs are beautiful and we will definitely be back to go swimming during warmer weather.

Very Quiet and Secluded

I had booked to stay here for 2 nights, but ended up only staying for 1 because my children were ready to go home. Our site was very nice, and we could even see the lake from our site even though we were not lake front.

The bathhouse was ok. The showers could have been a little cleaner, but you had steady water the whole time (instead of pushing the button for 30 seconds of water).

I would stay here again if I was in the area.

Beautiful Campground

I stayed for 3 nights on Loop 5. I would definitely stay again, but only during the week. I like to camp to find a bit of solitude and quiet. The first night I was there, the loop was fairly empty, only a few campers. It was very peaceful and we were able to see a ton of stars. I even heard a pack of coyotes running through the mountains that night.

The next two nights were a Friday and Saturday, and all the site were booked for those nights. You could hear generators running in the distance and lots of dogs barking. The site right next to ours had people up playing music and singing until midnight.

The bathrooms were clean and you had plenty of water pressure. The bathhouse on loop 5 had two stalls, one with a toilet and large shower and the other with just a toilet. Bathrooms in the other loops were all private, (separate area for toilet and your own shower room).
