The sites by the river are great with direct access from the site. It was also nice to have a truck driving around selling firewood. We mainly booked here to see the wildflowers, but were very disappointed that we didn't see much even though we went during the season. Lots of hikes nearby though.
The area has alot to offer from a great for families. We did the Rosario Head (sunset) and Lighthouse Point hikes, which are short and easy for young children, and kids love seeing sea creatures during low tide on Bowman Bay. There are tide pools too (check the tide charts for best times and days) and lots of beaches to explore as well.
Our campsite was next to Cranberry Lake and we had a double site which was big and secluded, unlike most of the other sites we walked by. The only drawback was that it was heavily shaded, which could either be a positive or negative depending on the weather.
The worst thing are jets from the nearby naval base are super loud and fly very late into the night, well beyond "quite hours." Luckily they didn't fly at night on our last night, being a Friday. Bring earplugs!!
