Stone Mountain is great for family camping. Some great trails with beautiful views, also good rock climbing. One of my favorite spots in NC.

Grayson Highlands is a must-do for all campers, hikers, and adventurers. Hit the trails to see some wild ponies and scenic balds. Weather is unpredictable, so pack a raincoat and warm clothes just in case.

A great campground for a trip to Asheville! Spent some time in the lake, on hiking trails, and in town.

spent a weekend here with a friend and really enjoyed it. there were lots of other campers, so not too secluded but worth a visit. beautiful sunsets and sunrises.

Definitely a backcountry campground, only two other campers there when I visited. High risk of flood in the area, and there’s a few bridges you have to drive over to get there so they might be flooded if it rains. Only $10/night, great if you’re wanting to do some hiking or mountain biking in the Wilson Creek area.

A great secluded campground in the Smokies. A few trails nearby, but we drove about an hour for most of the hikes we did. Clean bathrooms, no showers.

A great option if you’re looking for a campground near the beach. Clean bathrooms with showers, campsites aren’t too sandy. Some nice trails nearby. About a 5 minute drive to the beach.

I’ve taken several trips here with my family and have enjoyed the quick escape from the city. Great group sites as well.
