Average Desert Campground

Not much to tell it’s a standard desert campground. Heard quite a bit of gunfire and there are some obvious signs people had targets set up along the access road. Lots of litter which is unfortunate to see. I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain how easy it is to not litter.

Lives up to the name

Very sandy…extremely sandy. Like most OHV areas it can get crowded and noisy but it is free and the closest free site to St. George. I’m surprised folks got their RVs in there given the state of the entrance.

Decent Sites, Bad Experience

Stopped here since I was tired and couldn’t make it to the Box area. The sites are nice enough etc. Woke up to the sound of birdshot raining in around me. I confronted the hunters saying they ought to mind their aim because there’s a campground. They responded with “it’s duck season”.

After returning to my site it rained in yet again and it seemed intentional. I am a hunter and can say that is entirely unacceptable. I should’ve called the police on them in hindsight but instead I decided to leave immediately so I could get on with my day.

It’s idiots like that which give hunters a bad rap.

Unique and Free

I haven’t seen anything quite like this with the black gravel and the area was massive. Was blessed with one of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen and a sunrise to rival it.
