After putting $5 in the envelope at the entrance, we easily drove a loop through the establishment and saw no other campers. We decided to take the 3rd site (first non-handicap site). Plenty of space. For tent use, it’s too rocky to use stakes, but there were plenty of sizable rocks to use to weigh down tarps. It was cool and breezy. It’s a shame we are just passing through, beautiful area to camp at. Edit: also, incredibly clean vault toilet!
It was actually hard for me to find this location. I followed the Dyrt map exactly and found a gravel road with turn offs, so hopefully I’m in the right place!
I can hear the occasional semi down the highway, but it’s dead silent for the most part. I opted to sleep in my car instead of my tent - there was a lot of shrubbery in my area. It’s 90° around 9pm at the end of May, so a little warm, but nothing beats the desert night sky.
