Oak Mountain has plenty of activities for everyone including a demonstration farm, horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, swimming and fishing. The campground is conveniently located to the lake with it's own beach area. There is also a pier to fish or swim from. Our campsite had a major ant problem and the bathhouse was subpar. Still Oak Mountain is my favorite Alabama state park thus far
Pickett CCC is recognized as a dark sky park. If you're into astronomy or just enjoy looking up at the stars this is the perfect place. The stars can be enjoyed from just about anywhere but a short drive down the road there's an astronomy field. The campsites on the A loop are spacious. B loop looked pretty cramped in together. There's plenty of short trails and the lake within walking distance of the campground. This makes the campground excellent for kids. The lake has a roped off swimming area and also offers boat rentals. Big South Fork neighbors the park if you're seeking more challenging trails.
Great campground on the water and spacious sites. Water access at your campsite to swim or kayak. Nice bathhouse, clean facilities. Will definitely be back!
Excellent campground right on the water. There's a swimming area for campers separate from the day use area. Many sites have their own water access. The tent only sites are at the back of the campground and are along the water. You have to take steps down from the parking lot to get to your campsite. The bathouse was clean. Great location close to Cummins Falls, Burgess and others.
