We discided to stop in Lake Havasu for the evening and needed a place, we found Crazy Horse and were blown away with the spot! It was a little pricey but it was last min and we were chasing the sun… so we just did it. It was so nice sitting by the lake and enjoying the beautiful evening. Waking up to the sound of the water on the shoreline was so peaceful! We will definitely be back. Highly recommend this spot
We pulled in at 5:30 pm. The “in” gate was locked, so we had to back up and go through the “out” gate which was open. Our reservation package was not available to us. Typically after hours they will have the camp info and site number in a box or tapped to the office… not here. We finally found a number in the email sent to us when we made the reservation, and we were able to get our site number. It was dark by the time we drove through the parks dirt paths to a cement pad, with full hookups. We setup had a good night playing cards as a family. In the morning light we realized this was a spot that looks like a lot of people live at full time. There was broken down trucks cars, and old RVs lined up in the back.. was kind of disappointing considering the Salton Sea is right there and this was the the only spot worth staying at. Oasis is a place to spend the night with full hookups, but don’t expect a lot… it is what it is.
This is a “snowbird” park. The sites have both 30 & 50 amp service, water and sewage hookups, a laundry room, a pool with two large hot tubs, an activities hall, a games room with a poker table and half a dozen pool tables. We are parked up beside our family who stays at the park in the winter. This place was probably pretty amazing back in the day… sounds like it has new ownership, there are some restoration projects going on so hopefully it will get back to its former glory.
We pulled in a little later than we had expected… you know how it is! They had our arrival package tapped to the door of the office for us with a site map, facilities, and wifi. When turning off the main road you are thinking to yourself "… Mmmm where is this taking me", but once you get to the entrance you will find a really nice park with great facilities. Pulling in at night was a breeze. Oh, and all the hookup stations for power, water, and sewage had little stands with lighting so you didn't have to hold the flashlight in your teeth. I highly recommend staying at River Run in Bakersfield.
this campground is on the Southside of Joshua Tree National Park. You will not see any Joshua Trees here (they are on the Northside) however, it is definitely a spot to check out. You pull up alongside your site, a huge area with a fire pit and a picnic table. A great area to go for a hike and watch the stars at night. Try and get site B13, epic views.
When Planning a trip through Joshua Tree you will want to spend most of your time on the Northside anywhere between HiddenValley - White Tank Campgrounds. Plan to spend time at skull rock exploring like a child and taking pictures like you are Ansel Adams. Cottonwood Campground is a great, inexpensive stop on the Southside before you leave Joshua Tree. Highly recommended it…. oh and check out the gift shop at the entrance they have a tour guild/hike recommendation area that was super helpful.
