Big Bend Access

We camped in their biondocking sites and it worked out very well for us. This is in the desert so it's wide open and was easy to maneuver our truck and camper around. This campground is pretty close to big bend national park and on the road to go to big bend ranch state park. The owners are nice and accommodating. We would stay here again.

William O Brian

This was a nice campground with decent sized sites. We stayed in 63E and I was able to back in camper and leave truck attached. We enjoyed hiking their trails and I did hit the bike trail as well. Worth the trip to go there.

Nice campground

We’ve been going here for years. The nice part for us is it’s located on the ATV trails so we just drive in and out of campground. There are a couple supper clubs within a short drive that are pretty good. There is a small lake with beach that is very nice for a quick swim as well. You can buy firewood from the host and he’s very generous and it’s very nice wood.

Maiden Rock

The town of Maiden Rock is small with a couple bars and great bakery. Nice people! The campground is across the tracks from town, very close. Rates are great at 25.00 for electric hook ups. We where located right next to the tracks and it’s loud!!! The trains blow through here at speed with horns blowing. Super loud! And the recycle bins for town are located close by and some jerk would come by at 5:30 AM and dump his bottles. Very loud again! I think if you camped closer to the lake this could be a nice spot but for us never again. It’s really a pretty location and I’ll attach some photos.

Large camp sites

First off about the camping area. The sites are huge but pretty open and we needed 50’ of cord to hit electrical box (not a big deal) The lawn was nicely mowed and the sites are very level. We have a travel trailer but the tent sites looked really nice. Overall we liked our site and have no complaints. This is definitely a canoe and kayaking community! We brought are kayak with us and went down the Upper Iowa River Saturday and Sunday, if you are at this campground make sure you spend a day on the river. The owners of campground are very nice and helpful, they offered a shuttle service for 25.00 a car load to get us to drop off point with our kayak but we had transportation so it wasn’t necessary. They did give us directions to a 4 or 6 hour float and we went with the 4. The owners also told of us of a nice hike near a spring in the area that we really enjoyed. I’m a bit of a brewery buff so we hit Toppling Goliath and was not disappointed.. We did check out some of the other campgrounds and did find that some have you packed in like cord wood so double check if you go somewhere else.

Little Primitive Gem

This is a great spot for the primitive campers. There are no real sites more of a dispersed camping area. No reservations. The reason we like it so much as it’s very private and a beautiful view of the river. Don’t try to bring any thing to big into here or you will be in trouble. We have a 19’ travel trailer and it wasn’t a problem but turning around is tight.

Nice sites

There are 2 separate camp areas with 2 completely different types of sites. The sites near the lake are very wooded, a bit smaller and pretty uneven. The sites themselves are even but your canopy might be overhanging a slope. That being said, we really liked the sites near the lake because we like the trees and lake views. The upper sites are HUGE and very near nice! The bathrooms where clean as well as campsites. We will be going back!

Beautiful!

Very nice campground with big sites. This area is very nice for hiking and pretty sure swimming and kayaking. We were there early spring so water was to cold to swim.

Great views out our back door

We had a great time here and the owner and his helper where very helpful and accommodating. Will be going back!
