Bugs galore, but great Amenities

Just recently got back from a trip here and let me tell you the bugs were vicious! couldn’t walk away from our Thermacell Mosquito Repeller without getting attacked. the bathrooms are very recently re tiled but lost out on benches in the bathroom which makes it a bit inconvenient for changing after showers. the RV run the park and are bothersome at night. will still be going back been camping there since childhood.

I haven’t seen anything like it!

It was beautiful everything about it. We put our boat in at the magazine branch boat dock and only had to canoe maybe 30 minutes to the first camp spot (which on a friday afternoon we were very fortunate to get). Unlike the other camp sites we’ve seen there camp site one doesn’t have any picnic tables, which is the only downside to it. You are right in the little slickrock cover with waterfalls as white noise. unlike the other sites this one is also very flat which is best for walking. if you enjoy hiking campsite one is right on the slickrock trail and if you take it about 1.5 miles you’ll reach wolfcat falls which has a big swimming hole at the bottom. lots of fun! slickrock trial also has about 7 more sites that we pasted on that 1.5 mile hike. lots to do here and absolutely beautiful and for the middle of june an amazing temperature.

Happy Camping!🏕

Large area, hard hike there

From what i saw, there seemed to be two camp sites at Harold Parrish lower camp. one had the sign and was a bit off the river and the other one was down just a little bit but visible from the first site and right at the water. i have both pictured below. The hike in is quite difficult. we boated into slickrock cove off of Calderwood lake and walked from there to the sites. which was only about 1.5 miles. so a lot easier than the whole 13.5 mile hike. Wolfcat falls is really pretty with a huge swimming hole. Lots of fun and not far at all from the Lower camp sites. if you’re thinking of kayaking or canoeing to these sites it’s impossible because of the amount of small falls so you’ll have to park your boat at the cove and leave it. No way to get it to the campsite.

Happy Camping! 🏕

Love the stream and not bad sites

I stayed two nights during Labor day weekend so might of been a bit more busy that weekend. Seems to be about 5 sites. 3 on the water and two more towards the road. you have to cross the river to access the other two and the terrain is a bit bumpy so many more hammock camping there. At night it’s a bit more peaceful than during the day since there isn’t any people parking to hike then. Even if people are camping near you the stream creates a nice sound barrier so you don’t really hear them. Very nice to fall asleep to the sound of the stream. I stayed for 2 nights and my stuff wasn’t messed with when i was gone hiking even though there’s a lot of foot traffic during the day. I will be returning to camp here again. Absolutely no cell service though. Some pictures included are photos from a nearby hiking spot at waterrock knob

Great spot!

I’ve been staying here every summer since i was a kid. So probably 11 summers now. It’s a great place. Clean bathrooms and cute well air conditioned cabins. You can ride your bike or walk to the boardwalk with some of the way having a paved bike trails. Gates close i think at 10 and open in the morning so remember to bring bikes. During the summer it is very humid and hot with lots of mosquitoes so remember to bring your bug spray. Try britt’s doughnuts of wake and bake before you leave, i promise you won’t regret it.

Beautiful but a ton of traffic

We drove pretty far in from the start thinking maybe not so many people would be there but we were wrong. The views in some areas are great but not that many good camping sites with good views. The birds in the early morning were beautiful though. Would probably be great for car camping but for rent camping it wasn’t amazing. The car traffic is horrible, even in the middle of the night. Even until 4am we could hear and see car driving up and down this terribly bumpy gravel road. One car even yelled at us telling us there was a bear just to be funny and scare us. Probably won’t be coming back here. It seemed like a beautiful place to spend the weekend but couldn’t find a really good view, very little privacy, and the people were just rude.

Peaceful and Fun

The site we stayed in is the first couple on the left a couple minutes after you turn onto Victor road. There was an old house that one was on the plot of land but is gone now and only the chimney still stands. Enjoyable to build fires in and very scenic. Creek also visible from this site. Lots of cars do drive down the road though which is a bit annoying. Even an older gentleman stopped to talk to us about the land and house that used to reside there. We enjoyed our stay and definitely will be back.
