We were so blessed to spend 14 days at this camp ground. They take no reservations it’s first come. My suggestion is to get there at 11:30 so if a site is available you can get it at 12:00.
We got a site right on the river it was heavenly . We have a clam was able to set it up right behind our rig. I lived in it and at night sitting there right by the river and seeing lightening bugs were so restorative to the soul.
Also it’s close enough to town if you are in shape could walk there or if you have a bike ride it into town.
Speaking of the town downtown was so quaint. I went to one of the bathhouses and it was a fun experience.
The sites are very spacious and nicely shaded.
First thing don’t follow gps to get there for some reason it took us to the owners house they were working on the issue. Once we found out where it actually was it was easy to get to.
We were there for three nights because they were pretty busy and did not have availability but we loved our time there.
My favorite thing was the clubhouse that has a huge porch where you can sit in a rocker and read.
I met the most amazing people who were having a get together and they loved to play games and I had such a great time with them. They belong to smart which is a military travel group and we ended up joining the group because they were so kind to include us.
The manager does a great job of keeping the park up and keeping the restroom and laundry room spotless.
The sites are close to each other but still nice.
We went camping here in May 2019 before Memorial Day and it was so peaceful and beautiful. We were fortunate enough to get a spot right on the lake.
It is such a perfect place to get away from it all.
We were there for 5days . We got on the Natchez Trace parkway. Also we went to Tupelo.
The bathrooms were not very clean but we were there off season and had a skeleton crew. But the park itself was beautifully decorated. They also have disc golf.
Make sure you bring bug spray and check for ticks.
If you have a bike it’s a great place to ride.
Please consider going there the town itself had a tornado go through it and could really use the tourism. I called the park and they said the park itself was not touched by the tornado and had no damage.
It is the perfect park to social distance the spots are not close to each other.
Make sure when you reserve ask to pay extra to get the front row. I did not know that you could do that when you reserve.
Watching the ships come in and out is neat.
Not far from campground on base is a private beach which Is amazing.
Note the commissary and bx are off base and closed on Mondays.
Saint Augustine is not far away and is a good day trip to go explore.
You could not ask for the two nicest people who own the campground. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and to make sure your happy.
They even take your picture at the end of your visit so they can post it on their wall of campers who have visited them.
They also have a passport America discount.
It is so relaxing and they create an environment where you get to know your fellow campers .
There is a reason they are number one on Campendium.
