Nice clean, spacious and private sites. Peaceful as well with the only noises being the expected kids playing and normal campground noise. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The showers were pay to use, probably our main complaint since for $35 for a tent site usually means it includes free showers at state parks elsewhere. The kids loved the playgrounds and the beach, which had great views of the Hood Canal and the Olympics. AT&T service was good.

Thanks to the tornado outbreak on April 27, 2011 this once perfect gem of a campground was decimated and has never been opened back up to camping, it remains a day use only.

First off the campground is nice. There are RV sites with hook ups in a more open field type area that have a great view of the water, though are a bit packed in. The non hookup sites on the western end of the campground are more of the campground feel being more tucked back in the trees and offer a bit more privacy. Access with RVs can be tricky though. Larger rigs needs to stick with the hook up sites to be safe. It does get crowded in the warmer months, it’s a popular place for a reason. The hiking trails around the park offer great views, interesting history with the WW2 bunkers and low tide brings out some pretty awesome tide pooling along the tongue. Reservations change during the year so check for the time you are wanting to visit. Cell service can be had, our AT&T worked, just make sure you are good with international roaming with Canada since you will at some point be on a tower there.

This is a campground that is pretty much what comes to mind when you think of camping in the PNW, good and Sasquatchy looking with old trees, ferns and moss everywhere. We were the only ones there when we camped so had the pick of the sites and went with a riverside one. Campground was clean and while not perfectly maintained, the older fixtures did add to the ambiance. I would say bringing anything bigger than the smallest of trailers would be a challenge though.

If you enjoy a perfectly spaced concrete pads, paved roads, being close to all the chain restaurants type RV resort, this may not be for you. Otherwise if you enjoy really feeling away from the worlds chaos, being able to sit out with an amazing view and the loudest noise normally being the waves crashing, screeching of eagles and the occasional ship horn bellowing then this is a class A place! We have been all over the country and this is the place we always miss the most. You can stay at WCB in a variety of ways. Bring your own tent and stay on one of the waterside wood platforms. Bring your own RV and stay at either full hook up sites with both 30 and 50 amp available or dry camp. You can rent one of their RVs ranging from an A frame pop up to big motorhomes. There are also waterside cabins, tiny homes and a larger cabin. Really something for every one. AT&T service is decent, bounces between US and Canada towers though so be sure roaming is not an issue for your bill. The owners Tim and Rachel are absolutely great on top of everything else.

Park is new and well maintained. Roads are paved and easy access in and out. Sites are concrete pads with a picnic table also on concrete. While sites are close, they are spaced well enough that you don’t have to worry with hitting your neighbor with your awning or having to play Tetris with your slides. The prior review about it being a couple miles from I-90 is probably for the county park at the actual lake. This park is right on the side of I-90, so road noise 24 hours a day along with the train and industrial buildings on each side. So if you are looking peace and quiet, this isn’t it. It is a nice spot for working in the area though and is nicer than the other choices near by. Staff is friendly and are on the ball with keeping the grounds clean and offer a smile and wave. Amenities include a playground, basketball court, dog park, clubhouse, pool and bathhouse. All are nice. The downside are the prices and policies. There are no refunds. So if you put a deposit down and your plans change, they will only give you a credit for a year. The monthly rates are not bad, but electric is separate. There are no weekly rates, so if you just need a week or two it’s either pay the $80 daily rate or pay a month for a week. There is also a $100 deposit on the heat tape during winter on the spigot. If you don’t want to pay it then you have to call them to unlock the water to fill your tank. Even though the tape is on it regardless, so doesn’t make any sense. Wifi is useable for basic internet use. AT&T service is great though.
