Exceeded expectations

We love state parks and have been to so many over the years. This campground really exceeded our expectations of a state park. First off the campground itself has all the amenities you can ask for, good Verizon service, nice bath showers, laundry facility, hiking trails, a swimming beach, boat ramp, fishing ponds, the hike and bike trail into downtown Ridgeway, playgrounds, picnics areas, and so much more! We stayed here for two weekend and we had so many activities to keep us busy. Elk ridge campground in my opinion is the best because it has the most tree cover. The other campgrounds offer electric, water, and even full sewer hookups but they are bare of trees and we like the privacy. There is a dump station very convenient as well for rvers. Will definitely be back again!

Quiet country campground

It's a nice property to explore. There's a lot of camp sites here, both for RV and primative tent camping. In fact we liked the primative sites better just for the inclusive nature surroundings. The campground is right on a bend of the colorado river and it's good for swimming, fishing, floating, etc. The bathrooms aren't the cleanest and the electric service would flicker at times. We did have a nice time. I wish the RV area had more trees.

Good camping year round

We love this campground year around but it's especially fun in the summer because of the lake activities. Bring a kayak or tube and just float! There's also a winery nearby. It's tough to get a reservation here, you need to book way in advanced. The showers are brand new family style, they have a general store by the boat ramp, it's a good place to be one with nature, quiet if you get good neighbors, and the sites are pretty well spaced out.

Beautiful lake, good travel stop

We like to stop and stay at this campground when traveling to/from colorado. It has a really pretty lake good for fishing and walking. We've been lucky it's never been crowded but word has it that this is a party spot on holiday weekends. It's also very expensive for what we're used to, at $30 night plus $11 per adult per day… Totaling $55 for 2 people for a night!

Can't say enough good things!

Love love love this place! We were so sad we only stayed here for a night. It has so much to offer for being in the middle of no where desert. Golf, fishing, hiking, swimming, enjoying the big trees in hammocks, etc. We loved it and will be back. it's a great place to stop over night too when traveling.

Has everything you need

I haven't actually stayed here yet but it's on my list. I did have a picnic down by the river and walked the grounds. It's a nice quiet place and like I said I will be back to RV camp. They have water front sites for tent camping and rv hookups up the hill. The cabins looked really nice too! This campground is right on the glenwood canyon bike trail that goes all the way into glenwood springs! Will return and do recommend.

Texas Wilderness and the stars!

We've been coming out here for years and it never disappoints. The best part about this park is the seclusiveness. We love the stars at night and if you get lucky enough to have quiet nearby campers the evenings are amazing with beautiful lake views. Out favorite sites in the RV loop are 5, 6, 8, and 11. The bathrooms are not amazing and it's hit or miss on getting nice park staff. They also close the gate on one side of the loop which is annoying when having to get out after hours.

In my top 10

This is one of our favorite campgrounds due to the sense woods, well spaced campsites, clean family style bathrooms, and activities such as hiking, fishing, and swimming. Highly recommend!

Family fun state park

This is a great park for families. There is all kinds of activities like biking, hiking, swimming, fishing, a playground, kayak/paddle board rentals, etc. The campground is small for RVs, only about 19 sites and there’s a few with full sewer hookups, the rest with water/electric. The sites on the outer loop are spaced out a bit more then the sites on the inner loop. We had some noisy neighbors with loud music but otherwise I would guess it’s a pretty tame park.. highly recommend and we’ll be back!

First to Review
One of our favorites in central Texas!

We live in Austin and this is truly our go to campground recently. Its so well kept, the campground layout is very clever. There's no bad sites! Nice privacy between sites. Some sites are on the lake with a little trail to access the water. There's so much do like hiking, biking, fishing, putt putt golf, kayak, paddle board rentals, etc. The water is very nice and clean. The bathrooms were spotless and are family style meaning you get your own private restroom/shower! There are a few sites with full hookups, the rest were just water/electric. Highly recommend this park!

Such a peaceful park

This is such a nice campground. There isn't a bad site, they all have privacy. Big pines mixed with palms and lovely breeze to keep it comfortable. You can walk to the beach it's about .5 miles. The bathrooms are super clean and the entire campground itself is very well kept. There's ok cell service and each site has water and electric. A dump station is available. Loved our 2 night stay over the weekend, highly recommend!

An oasis in the desert!

This campground is so nice! The sites are spaced out to give everyone their privacy. Very clean grounds and we'll maintained. Walk to the Green River to fish, kayak, or canoe. This state park also has a full fledged, beautiful golf course! We just stayed one night passing through but it's definitely the kind of spot we'd love to stay for a weekend. Loved our stay would highly recommend.

Beautiful wooded RV campground

We stayed at blue spruce for a week while working remotely which required good cell coverage. We have Verizon and despite having no service on the drive to blue spruce, once we arrived the bars lit up! This campground was great, nice clean grounds, shaded pines every where, a playground, horses, and a short drive down to valicito lake. They have full hookups, a country store, a short hiking trail, games center, and a group pavilion. The only negative thing to say was that many sites were too close to each other… We like our space and are used to state parks. We really loved our stay!
