Bogg HS

Taking the 140 South, turn Right on Bogg Hot Road. Go about 5 miles on the dirt road. You have reached the hot springs on the left hand side. This HS is located in Nevada’s Northwest corner of the state. A large open area just in front of the HS for day use and camping. It is in the form of a creek with some rock dams to slow the water and make soaking spots. It seemed to be around 105, just an estimate. Waiting till it gets cooler to relax in it. Primitive camping next to a hot spring. I did see a couple fire pits in the open area for people spending the night. Quiet location, no road noise and your surround by desert. Flying insects during the day, mainly a couple different types of flies, including horse flies.

McDougall camping

Primitive location, nothing there, but maybe a fire ring and a spot to park your vehicle. Go about 2 miles on the dirt road and watch out for the dirt pot holes. At my site, you could fit 2 vehicles comfortably, but 3 is a little crowded. Flying insects during the day. There are many so take appropriate action. Mostly flies and a couple different types of bees. By sunset, the insects went to sleep.

Mt. St. Helens camping

Primitive location, nothing there, but maybe a fire ring and a spot to park your vehicle. The road coming in the last 10 miles is rough in many spots. It’s hard to see the bumps and dips in the road in the early evening. There are many spots to choose from for cars, trucks, and vans. It doesn’t seem like it’s designed for RV’s and trailers. The spot I took was within the last 5 miles of the marked location, on the left hand side, up a rugged dirt road. My truck made it up in 2WD. During daylight hours, I could hear gunfire above my site. As the evening approached, peaceful. I would stay here again.

Lakeside camping

Quiet place, just sounds of nature. Spots vary in size and the ones with lake access go first. Too windy for a fire, but fire rings made from rocks are present. 2WD vehicles should have no problem, but doesn’t seem equipped to handle trailers or RV’s.

A night in the rainforest

Going East on Upper Hoh Rd, a site is on the Left side, before the pay booth for Olympic NP. The have 2 signs posted, Discover Pass required and no campfires. This location has 1 designed campsite, which is completely out of view from the road. Quiet location, rains often…ie rainforest.

Rivers edge

This location takes the Discovery Pass. There was no host here, and cell signal is spotty at times. I had to drive towards the 101 after I found my site to get signal to call or have internet access. It worked out. There seems to be about 6 sites at this campground. Quiet, just the sound of the river rushing by. Clean campground with 2 vault toilets and a dumpster for trash. I would stay here again.

Just off of the 26

Several campsites off Kiwanis Camp Road with some next to a stream. Just a few cars passing after Sundown, but generally quite and peaceful.
