This is a good place to stay inside the park. It is the only option for full hookups. Be aware that it is quite a drive to other areas of the park, depending on what you are there for. We were in the older part, which we preferred. It has gravel pads, but has easy hookups. While the spots are close together, a lot of them have trees between so it doesn’t feel like you are right on top of one another be aware that there are no picnic tables. There were a lot of mosquitoes, so we ended up eating inside. The newly renovated area has cement pads and picnic tables, but no trees at all. It’s very open. We didn’t use the showers or other facilities, but overall it was a clean, well run campground and a great option for staying inside the park.
Stayed here for a night on the way to Yellowstone. It was good for that purpose. It’s in the city, in fact there is a hotel right next door. Also close to a road, so you hear a good deal of traffic. Spots are quite close together. They do have free Wifi for streaming, which was nice. We didn’t use any of the facilities, so I can’t comment on those. Good for a stop but wouldn’t stay here for any length of time.
If you are going to the Badlands camp here. It is windy and we weathered a couple of thunderstorms that were pretty intense, but the views are amazing and there is are cool hiking spots to explore. As other reviews have noted, there are a lot of people camping there. However we were there on a Sunday-Tuesday and had plenty of space and it was quiet. The sunsets are amazing and you have an outstanding view of the grasslands in one side and Badlands features on the other.
Decent, clean campground. We were staying just one night on the way to our final destination. This was right off the expressway, so perfect for that. We didn’t use any of the facilities m, so can’t comment on those.
