First, this RV park was very spacious. The layout was not like a typical RV parking lot. All the sites were pull throughs with plenty of space between each site. Felt more like a state campground. They had a cool outdoor covered common/seating area with fire pits. They also had food, drinks, and items for sale that you pay for with Venmo. They also had nice bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers.
The camp site was clean and it was a great location that was close enough to walk to the reservoir with paddle boards. Tons of hiking trails around to get out and explore. The sites were a little close and not many trees for cover, but overall a great spot.
The camp sites were well spaced and the ample trees gave you plenty of privacy. Please note, the campground doesn’t allow trailers longer than 20’. We definitely saw longer trailers but the roads are tight with lots of tree branches so it will be hard to navigate with a big trailer.
The facilities were clean which was nice. But…You had to drive to get to dumpsters which is annoying. Also many of the trailer spaces were very small. We had a pull through spot and the camp side was on the wrong side of the camper. The roads are 1 way loops and our pull through site was on the left side of road. This meant that our trailer door was facing the road instead of camp site. Didn’t like the spot. There were some nicer spots but I recommend doing your homework first. Great location to the sand dunes. We had a good time at the sand dunes but now that we have experienced it we probably won’t go back. Cell service was very limited, 1-bar. Potable water was available and they had a small Camping shop with basic supplies.
First time staying in an RV park. He were very happy with the facilities. The only reason I am giving a 4 star is because it could have been stocked better. There was never toilet paper or hand soap and 2 of the showers were permanently locked. Great location and close to town.
First, camp sites at Kayenta were very clean. I’ve never seen a fire pit perfectly cleaned out like they were. As soon as people left they raked the surrounding area and cleaned the site. Location was close to trails and absolutely amazing views.
We checked recreation.gov and called twice to verify the morning of that there we ample first come first serve sites. When we arrived all the sites had signs saying reserved. We talked with camp host and he said that people can reserve sites with him locally, to which I asked “how is that first come first serve?” He got very rude with me. Once recreation designates a site first come first serve a camp host shouldn’t reserve sites. That would make the website completely inaccurate. The camps were very exposed and close together. The sites are good if you are purposefully there for water activities but if you are not than it’s not very private.
