We stayed hear a couple years ago. I am many writing this review because it comes up in the dispersed camping filter which it is NOT! It is assigned camping sites that are basically on top of each other. I recommends rating here in the off season because you will basically have the place to yourself which makes it pleasant. Upon arrival we were really bummed to find out tent camping was in a back corner or the RV park, the websites photos are deceiving. It would be nice for families or a group, but as a couple with just a small dog it wasn’t ideal.

So Amazing!!

We stayed in the free campsites for 2 nights and this was the most amazing spot! (14 day max)

We had paddle boards for the lake! We walked the dog on a trail all the way around. Amazing mountains everywhere!

We never wanted to leave!

Heavily Wooded Area

Honestly we were really disappointed when we arrived because it is hours away from the Grand Canyon. We made the most of the location but we were WAAAAYYY out in the woods! No cell reception & for a Friday night there were no other campers around us which made us a little uneasy.

It was nice for backpacking trails down into the East Rim Canyon.

Not free camping!

We stayed here last night and there is a lot of misleading info with the last review.

  1. It is a $25 fee to enter this area. You do get access to all of Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam area which is cool but disappointing when you aren’t prepared.
  2. The campground is the only thing available and it is $52 a night!! There is absolutely NO SHADE so at 117 degrees outside we were miserable. The river is super cold which was nice but there is no beach & lot of people who are there for the day from Vegas.

I wouldn’t recommend.

Perfect place to stop for the night

We arrived at 8:30pm and found a spot right up the road next to the river. It was peaceful and easy to find. Plus it was close to town. We have a rooftop tent and the ground was somewhat level. I would not recommend tent camping because there were a lot of rocks.

Easy to find!

We stayed here on our drive from California to Colorado over the weekend! It was about 6:30pm when we arrived and there was more then enough space for us. Spot were level in places for our rooftop tent. It was above the city and out of the smoke too!

The only downside was there were hunters there with ATVs who woke up at 5am and let them run for 45 minutes before leaving.
