Well maintained campground with well-spaced sites, you never feel like you're in your neighbor's lap. Sites along the river feel a little less private simply because everyone walks along the river, but there's really plenty of room. Lots of trees, so it would be cool in the summer. Great birds along the river, lots of ducks and egrets, and a bald eagle perched in a tree right above my site with its breakfish! Great place to stay on the way to Death Valley or up the central valley to Fresno.

Plenty of space for privacy spread out over the plateau and 360 degree views if you follow the road up the hill. No amenities, but since there's a cell tower at the edge of the plateau there is decent service. Wind can be brutal, but stars are stunning. There are a few sandy patches on the lower part of the road, but my promaster didn't have any problems. Felt very safe when I was there.

…because it actually has grass and trees! (Campgrounds down the road in Tecopa are just bare lots for the most part.) The Shoshone RV Park also has nice clean showers and laundry facilities, as well as wifi, which is helpful as there's generally no cell service or data in the area.  I didn't try the warm pool, so I can't vouch for it, but I did walk the nature trail and see the endangered pupfish in the habitat restoration area (check out https://www.newyorker.com/news/us-journal/the-queen-of-the-desert for more information on the town and the restoration projects) and enjoyed the winter birds (phainopepla, verdin, marsh wren, and of course ravens). The Shoshone Museum is worth a visit as well.
