Great location, centrally located for exploring both Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks.
Nicely shaded spots and the higher elevation is nice for cooler nights during the hot summer months.
Great views of the sunset from the back of the campground.
Grant Grove Village is very close by with market and restaurant.
We stayed in site 32 which was probably the worst spot in the campground. Very hilly spot with one flat spot for a tent right next to neighbors picnic table and fire pit. Both 32 & 34 are tent only spots and right on top of each other. The other sites nearby were much more flat and looked much nicer.
The views of the lake from this campground are stunning. The sites are small and tents have to be on the gravel pad. Clean pit toilets but couldn’t located the potable water.
Arrived mid morning on a Saturday in Mid June and was able to secure a site.
The campground is very spread out and provides lots of space between you & other campers, so that’s a plus. The views of the island mountains and the Great Salt Lake were another plus.
We visited in early May when the No See Ums were at their peak, so forget enjoying a campfire at dusk, or anything at dusk. Also, the campsites provide 0 protection from the wind. We were in a tent and the wind shook our tent back and forth all night. No sleep. But the views getting out of the tent in the morning were incredible.
Pit toilets were clean enough. Campsite was large & clean.
