This area is definitely off the beaten path. Super skinny road with lots of rocks/hills and puddles coming in. I would recommend a car with 4WD for it and would not suggest pulling a camper unless you have experience bringing it over rough terrain. The sites themselves appeared to not be visited often. I went in early August and a lot of the places were over grown with plants! It was nice to be right by the north shore but in a spot that felt very much secluded. There was also no bugs here which was amazing! Great spot to hang out by a campfire without getting swarmed. You’ll be able to find plenty of wood from the nearby trees for a fire as well.
This place was really fun! We found a great spot off the road to hangout for a few days that had a great view of mountains! Everyone along this trail seemed nice and trustworthy. People were able leave their sites and come back later with nothing missing. Only hard part about staying here would be the road- it was very worn down and after a rain/hail storm(everything was okay after!) there were big puddles everywhere. Tents were flooded and had to dry out in the sun the next day. No problems with a jeep wrangler but pulling a camper would be difficult.
This place is very beautiful, staying at the badlands was so cool. The sunset over the field was gorgeous and being able to stay right on the edge of the rocks was fun. We woke up to some cow neighbors so make sure to put your food away at night.
