Really nice spot big enough for 4-6 trucks. We got to hear coyotes all night. Pretty nippy that night. Right at the gate of the Grand Canyon. Had a few people come flying by since the road is right at the camp site but it wasn’t too bad.
Came in hot one night right at dusk. Didn’t have much time to find a place. Lucked up on these spots. Soon as we turned in on the road there were campers and more campers. Finally found some tents and then some overland we rigs. We made our way to the top, which we didn’t know was literally wide open on the top of the hill. Mid night came and the wind was whooping out of the valley. The stars were so beautiful from here. Lucked up on a slice of heaven at this stop. This is where the weather changed for us. From 80 day and 50 night to 65 day and 40 nights. We went down to the gas station for fuel and breakfast. Best subway breakfast I have ever had.
Found this right as we were running out of day light. Needed this spot for the night so we could ride the Shaffer trail the next morning. We headed in and found this at the spot in the bottom of the mountain. We really enjoyed the spot. Sun rise and sunset was great here!
Only our list was to ride the trails in Moab. We surely did. Fins and things was our trail for the evening. Loved the hills and the fun. We came to the end of the trail and boom there were some camping spots. We found a loop and found our site. It was super nice to watch the sun go down and the moon rise on the rocks. Watch for the fore ants. They were every where! This cave was so neat at the edge of our camping spot.
We stopped here for a night so we would be up and ready for the hike. My wife had this on her bucket list. Such a nice hike in and out. Waterfall was beautiful! Campground wasn’t all that bad. Restrooms were clean. Older and smaller camp sites but hey they got the job done for us. Be prepared to be close to your neighbor.
Overlanding had us stop here for a night. Such a beautiful spot! Water was beautiful. Mountain back drop was gorgeous. The pebbles in the water were something different to see other then the sand we are use to. Wished we could have stayed a few more nights. Bath houses were older but very clean. Guys running the front were A1!
Came into town to see the National parks and this was our first stop.
Beautiful rocks and the scenic sky was amazing.
Wished we could have spent more time here.
If we make it back, this will be my first stop again.
First time visitors. Not far from home. Love the double pads on the camp sites closest to the water. They have good room between the sites as well. Seemed to have a new playground for kids. Bathrooms were clean all weekend every time we used them. Yes they are out of date but what older camp ground doesn’t have that? Checked in with ease. Site 78 was a wonderful view and was shaded most all of the day. We enjoyed the park walking and looking. Take a ride down the road to the lake and dam or to one of the many swimming beaches. There are 2 old bridges to check out after the lock. Be on the lookout for little creatures while here. Never know what might come up to your site. Ha. Can’t wait to come back and enjoy another weekend.
Campground is shut down. Run down. Hasn’t been up kept for some reason. Guessing COVID. Did have boat ramp and a vault toilet for day use only. Looks to have been a nice place when it was opened.
Start out by saying that #15 spot is literally on top of the one right behind it. The bath houses were super clean, All weekend. The park was full. Splash pad for a hit for the kids and so was the swim area. We enjoyed kayaking and the pier right out front. Loved the water in the lake. Grounds were also clean.
Had a packed house when we were there last weekend. Just happened up on a spot for one night. Wanted to kayak but water was up too high after the rain. Site did hold some water after the rain. Tent campers everywhere. Watch for crazy drivers especially if you have kids! Far off of the road but was a nice scenic drive in and out. Can have small campers. No power obviously. Hoping to come back and kayak down through the campgrounds.
Wanted to stay here over the passed weekend. Too many people to try and camp with so many kayaks. I was jealous that we didn’t get to make it in time to get a spot. We were wanting to kayak as well. Ha. We did get to walk down to the water. Beautiful rocks. Nice clean facility, even with all the people there. Hope to come back and have a spot next time!
Set up for two nights and 3 days here in our RTT. We enjoyed the beautiful views from the camping area. The trails are all ranging. We hiked around 5 miles and wished we had more time. So many great ops for pictures. Got to see so much wildlife as well. Only down side is that the bathhouse only has one shower. We hope to visit again soon!
We enjoyed our 2 nights here on the lake. The campground is literally on a mountain in the lake. Tent sites right on the lake and so are some RV spots. Warning. Stay away from Loop C around sites 35-37. They are literally right on top of each other. We luckily had a friend who was staying over on site 28 and we parked with him. Loved it there! Some sites are off camber due to the mountain side. Bath house where we were staying was the nicer of the ones. Older but clean. Can’t wait to come back in the summer!
Finally stopped by to check out this CG. Actually a lot bigger then I had expected. The grounds were clean and looked nice. That being said, there are a lot of people who call this home. They have pay monthly spots but it looked like so many more are living there. The sites are really close. A gentleman did tell us they do have a few spots opened from time to time. The river and sand bar are literally right behind the CG. Would like to try and camp here if they ever had an opening for a somewhat “good” spot. Has swimming pool, tennis court and a basketball goal. Boat ramp and day use spot as well.
Very nice state park for its size. Ice storm has had its way here but they are cleaning up nicely. Bath houses stayed super clean all weekend. Park hosts were very nice. Walking trails were very clean around lake with TentRR glamping being added. 4 lake front premium spots. We were kicking enough to have one. Piers are super nice. Place was packed this weekend but still very nice and quiet at night.
Grew up coming here for the summer to fish, swim, ski and use the water park. It is an older park but with that being said it has many years left of good camping. The bathrooms are always clean. Many things were closed when we went due to covid but are normally up and running. Love the area. The trails are an addition to the park. We love to get out and walk the woods. The old campground is where we like to stay. Mostly quiet and this is the side with the primitive tent camping. This side also has a good bit of shaded spots that are on the water.
Always packed with hikers but nonetheless we always have enough space and a good time. The downfall to this park is the camper pads. There are a few that are perfect. Most of them once you step out of your camper has a huge drop off. Just remember to park as close to the hookup side as possible. Clean bathrooms and nice hosts when we go. Love the trails. The Bear Creek is peaceful to sit beside. Hoping to kayak here this summer. Can’t wait to go back.
Had been wanting to try this campground out for a year. We decided last minute to make the trip this weekend. Super nice park host! Bathrooms were A+++ clean! No showers due to covid. Loved that almost all spot were right at the water edge. Literally. All types of birds to watch. Squirrels too. The walking path is about a quarter mile down to a spot where people fish. Many people boating and fishing. Can’t wait to come back but some sites had already been booked for next week. Seems like this is a very popular place. I do see why!
Stayed here last year for New Years. Came to ride the lake bottom in our SXS. Campground was very clean. Bathhouse was clean. Park host at the time were pretty nice. Just fill out all of your paper work when you put it on the pole and they won’t bother you. Also if you are wanting to ATV ride, the do not allow you to have them off of the trailer in the park. Overall a fun weekend. Was going to go back once the lake fills up this summer.
