This is a great centrally located campground right on Lake McDonald and just down the way from Apgar. It is unbelievably popular however, so we were stuck tent camping between two RVs one with lots of children running around and the other running a generator most of the day. I don't know about you but I like some peace a quiet when i'm camping and I just didn't get it here, unfortunately. It is a rather large campground at decent nightly rates, with about 4 or 5 sections of camp with some loops right on the lake but still the views aren't too impressive from here. Each campsite is composed of a tent pad/area, a picnic table and a fire ring. There is an amphitheater where rangers have nightly talks mostly for the youngsters, there are pretty nice flush toilet bathrooms and one has showers available at no extra cost.
We hiked 5 miles from sunrise to granite creek camp, over skyscraper pass and back down again. We arrived at granite creek after about 2.5 hours on the trail. There is a river running right below camp, the perfect place to sit and relax or filter some water.. it tastes amazing. there are 2 single campsites and one group camp site they are all well secluded from each other. There is a backcountry bathroom which is awesome between campsite 1 + 2 follow the signs along the trail past the bear poll and you'll arrive at your very own forest bathroom - all the views inculded!
