Not for everyone but we Loved it!

I want to give this place 5 stars but not having a natural water source and locking the gates at night don’t get ya 5 stars 🤓 …I understand their reasoning behind locking the gates however; bad humans out there that come in late at night and trash the place and don’t pay the measly $7 a night to camp - so locking the gates prevents that. Anyway, the picnic tables were nice and the entire canyon was just beautiful. It’s also a simple drive to Saguaro National Park (East) as well. We saw a deer in the morning too which was cool being that it seemed so out of place in the “desert” ha ha…we will definitely go back. Good times.

Descent “rough’n it” Campground

Not sure where some of the photos for this campground come from but it’s not Mack’s Canyon. Ha ha …this is another spot that is just convenient for a one night getaway. It’s free, and although it’s posted “no fires allowed,” everyone still lights them - no natural water. Not much wildlife or good hiking - but this place will always hold a special spot in my heart because I saw my first mountain lion here! So crazy. Strange to because I’ve been there so many times and never even see deer really. Lucky night I guess. Anyway, don’t take an RV here - the road gets a little too rough for that. Nothing spectacular about this spot but it smells good and puts you under the stars, so it’s still refreshing

Convenient - close to Town

If there isn’t a rodeo across the street then this is an excellent place to stop for a night if you’re passing through to Tucson like we were. Each site has a nice fire pit and the ground is pretty level - lots of RV parking. Much more sites than I read about too. Around 30 sites. Not “8” like the website read. Definitely not a place you stay more than one night though.

Quick Getaway from Vegas City

I live in Vegas so this campground is super convenient. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because there is no natural water source and cell reception (for Verizon) is very spotty. I do like how they offer WiFi for around $8 a day. I know I know, camping is to get away from social media meh - well I often camp alone so it’s nice to kill a few hours surfing the internet after the day’s adventure is done. I also find myself researching things I discovered throughout the day of exploring the area. Anyway, the individual campsites are amazing and clean - great fire pits, and each site has its own water spigot too. Last thing I’ll leave you with is it is often “FULL” so if there isn’t anything available just head to Stewart’s Point on Lake Mead.
