We stayed in the Cool Caboose for a night! It was definitely cool. We were greeted with a warm welcome upon our arrival. An ice cold bottle of water for each of us was a nice touch. The caboose is very cozy and has everything you need for an overnight stay. We made great use of the back patio for dinner and breakfast. The only feedback I have is regarding the beds. They’re not the most comfortable, but they’re sufficient. We’d stay here again. We walked the property and I’d have to say, out of the dozen or so KOAs we’ve stayed at, this is definitely among the best!
We arrived late and left early. Tent sites are all grass, with plenty of space. Lots of activities.
Easy in & out. Great sites. Large campground, but very clean with lots of activities. Probably the only negative is it’s location right on the freeway. Traffic all night.
We stayed on a Sunday night, arrived when there was only 3 tent sites remaining. The campground is right at the ferry dock so you will get that early morning fog horn. Easy walk up the hill to the fort. We had a bald Eagle in the morning which was awesome. The restrooms are very clean. Showers are available, but quarters are needed!!
We came to the island for just one night. Reservations are HIGHLY recommended prior to arriving on the island for any type of accommodation. We arrived at the resort at 11:30 am and was able to get a site for same day. Check-in isn’t til 1 pm so we explored the island. Since this is a resort, it’s a great place for families with kids. Our boys took advantage of the games- tether ball, chess, horse shoes, etc. If you want to make full use of the resort, plan to stay 2+ nights. Was great to sit by the pond sipping wine. Free hot showers and clean restrooms.
It takes a long time to drive all the way up here, but it’s worth the drive! Campground has lots of sites, and not much privacy. But easy access and plenty of restrooms. Laundry facilities are available.
We stayed here two nights while visiting Pictured Rocks. We had a great site with plenty of privacy. East walking access to the.beach where we could sit and watch daylight escape.
We arrived at the NP at 10:30 am on a Friday. The campgrounds were already full, so we quickly backtracked to this one just outside the park. We would most definitely stay at this campground again for any exploring on the southwest side of the NP. Another great example of a great National Forest Campground. We had one of the best spots with access to the stream.
We arrived late after leaving Portland for Mt Rainier. We stayed in a tent site right on the main road. Cars started going by early in the morning (Friday). Had a beautiful morning walk through the old growth forest before packing up and heading to the National Park. We had water, but the bathroom was only a porta potty. I think if we’d stayed in the main campground our stay would’ve been great but we were using it as a quick overnight stop only.
The campground is right off the freeway so very easy access. plenty of sites available. The signs, however, point to Day Use and Campground. Tent sites are in the Day Use area. We didn’t know this til after we had our site all set up. Winds kicked up before midnight and stayed strong all night. It even snapped the poles on our tent. Free showers and a swimming hole are a plus!
We didn’t have a reservation, but lucked out on a great site. All sites have a calendar posted with reservation dates listed. First come first serve is available for any not reserved that night. There’s a self serve pay station where it’s east to pay using card or cash. Super close to the Ferry terminal if you’re visiting the San Juan Islands. The park is huge with lots of great trails. You’d never know you’re on the edge of town.
We stayed two nights. I highly recommend making reservations online prior, but due to other issues, we had to take a chance with First Come First Serve. The loop road is about 3/4 of a mile. The sites are well spaced out and all are very spacious. Although the driveway begins at Marble Creek, there’s no access to the creek from the campground. There is, however, access to the Cascade River! No running water, so bring your own. We totally enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay again.
We drove 10 hours from Denver and didn’t know how late we’d be arriving, so we placed a reservation in advance using the KOA app. Check-in was quick. Our boys got to enjoy the pool before it closed for the evening. I’m the morning they offer FREE waffles, so after packing up the car, we enjoyed breakfast before heading over to the National Monument.
