Weather was perfect for near the end of August. I camped in loop A. Many of the sites in A are not very level for vans. A23 was okay, but I would check the site description next time to be sure.
Very nice campground with great views of the mountains, hiking, and biking around Oro Valley on road bike. Easy access to the loop trail. It was low 30s in the mornings (February). Bathroom and showers in loop A were coolish.
I was not expecting such a beautiful place in the desert. A great place to overnight. Easy paved access until the park and then gravel in the park. Unfortunately, you need to reserve online as there is no way to pay at the park. I recommend stopping at a rest stop on I8 before you drive here as the cellphone reception is very poor. Finally, I do NOT recommend site 32 as it is not a pull through, but a small pull off next to the loop road where you park very close parallel to the road.
I like this LTVA because it’s far enough from I10 that you don’t hear traffic, yet easy driving distance to town. Pit toilets are good for those that don’t have black tanks.
Very clean and well maintained state park on the river. Our site backed up to the river and was close to the bathroom and showers. Only downside, for me, was no T-Mobile cell service or WiFi. Had to walk to the office to get WiFi.
Easy reservations on recreation.gov, great campsite with bathroom and water access. No showers, but the price was great. Will be back for a longer stay.
