It's okay

Stopped here overnight in late August. Only a few other campers on a Sunday so nice and quiet. Typical midwest tent camping on dirt, lots of mosquitoes, pit toilets.

Meh, for tent camping

Stopped overnight in late August. Did not want to drag our gear up/down a hill to the tent campsites in the lower loop. Paid more to stay in the upper RV loop where we listened to a neighbor's generator all night. Pretty buggy. Showers/toilets okay. Note there are at least 2 railroads running nearby in the wee hours of the morning. Also, this is on the flight path for jets leaving (I assume) the Omaha airport. Not a restful night--won't be back.

Overnight stay only

First stop on a cross county trip. We were directed to Catfish Bay for tent camping. It was lightly drizzling and on an overcast day most of the tree-covered campsites were dark. There are some nice sites right on the water (be prepared to walk your gear in from parking lot). Site #21 was private, with more open sky and a shorter walk to parking/outhouse. The outhouse was in really rough shape--looked like it hadn't been swept out or hosed down for awhile. Won't be back.

Amazing!

Had a great overnight stay here early September; Loop A site#9. Peaceful and quiet for the two of us. The adjacent sites looked a little more private, but this was Wednesday and the campground wasn’t full. Since we were heading west and moving from Mountain to Pacific Time we were able to use that hour in the morning to hike up to the Falls. The camp hosts noted a bear about but we didn’t see it. Hope to come back and spend more time. Great spot!

Quite a night!

Stayed here for one night on a cross country trip the Monday before Labor Day. RV sites were fairly full already. We arrived early afternoon and opted to cook dinner at our tent site before setting up camp for the night. Good idea since the nearest day-use picnic shelter was occupied by a rather loud drunk couple who kept shouting at us they were leaving soon—they did leave once but only to buy more liquor! We packed it in and found a more secluded site. A huge storm rolled through the area and we ended up sleeping in our van. Really appreciated the clean shower house (single occupancy/locking) with plenty of hot water!   Would like to come back and spend more time.

Quick night stay

Stopped here for a quick overnight on a cross country trip. The 10 sites in the tent-only wooded area weren’t very appealing(no grass/uneven terrain) except for the ones furthest from the parking area. We didn’t feel like hauling our tent and stuff all the way in, only to haul it out first thing in the morning. Since there were few campers, we opted for site 81 which had nice grass and close parking. Made for great sleeping, but the bugs(chiggers?) were horrible and left us with painful itchy bites for the rest of our vacation. The camp host was very friendly and fun to chat with.
