Be prepared…

Be prepared to higher your campground expectations after this one! Definitely one of the cleanest most well kept campgrounds I’ve seen in a while. Shower rooms/bathrooms are immaculate, and smell so nice. Site was perfect for both an RV or a tent. They offer tent, back in, or pull through. We tent camped at an back on site across from both the play area and the shower rooms. Loved it! Hope to come back and hike the trails x kids said they looked beautiful.

Regular camper…

We typically tent camp here, but have car camped in one of the RV spots. Staff is always great, and facilities are clean. Hikes are always fun too!

Winter Camp!

We spent Christmas 2020 here! We camped in spot B4. One of the park staff stopped by. He was super nice, and offered some great info for future visits. Toilets were open, and he did mention we could still use the water spigot! Really liked our stay :)

Great stop and stay…

We car camped here before heading in to backpack the Porkies for a few days. Staff was nice, and facilities were clean. Spots were pretty close together, and not very private. Our spot, site 25, had beautiful lake access!

Beautiful!

We car camped here at site 9 right next to the lake! It made for a stunning night before we headed out to Grand Island for a few days. Staff was extremely nice. The facilities were very clean, and we were thankful for them. There is also firewood for purchase.

Great site!

It’s ways off the trail, so private! Also has beach out front. While both stair access points were out of service, there is a path cut out across from the firewood cubby. This beach is pretty rocky, but pretty nonetheless, and offers a refreshing Lake Superior fill up!

Our favorite spot…

We spend 5d/4n on the island. Day two we hiked up to North Beach, and stayed at Shelter Ridge for two nights. Shelter Ridge was an amazing camp site, although it is a bit closer to the trail, it was still pretty private. It was nice to have a day to relax on the beach which is right in front of the site. Best part, it was nice enough for us to take a dip in Lake Superior!

Private!

Quiet (unless the wind is roaring off the bay), private and off the path, with a pretty decent view of the bay. No water access, so make sure you hike some in.

BC-6

This site is right next to the trail. Little to no privacy. Finding a place for a cat hole can be fun :D It does have a bear pole and water is available from the Big Carp River. I failed to take any photos of this location :(

LS-12

We stayed one night at LS-12. Loved this site. I knocked off one star since it took us a bit to find a good spot to hang multiple bear bags. One pole would have been amazing. Also, the fire ring was too full for a fire. It offered plenty of privacy and space for multiple tents. Plus the amazing and beautiful lake access! No bugs, and perfect temps in mid-October.
